This is true lol. I actually do love the final fantasy series and can't wait until ff13-3 but what I mostly mean is that I don't want a DMC game with a bunch or serious melodrama and overblown anime plot lines that takes itself way too seriously.

Hehe, that has never been the case with the original series and it doesn't seem like that will be the case with DmC, so I don't think you have anything to worry about. ^^
