I'm still on the boat for the classic Dante. This one just doesn't scream "badass" to me. Not from what I've seen from the trailers, demos, and videos. I'll still prefer the original Dante over this one.

Badass is just such a subjective term, and I don't think DmC Dante is one, nor is the classic.

There's a special something that's needed in one's personality to fit that odd bill of being a "badass." DmC dante is that cool rebellious type to me, while the classic Dante is that slick 80s action hero type.

I guess maybe...badass isn't so much a defining trait in a character, but moreso just an element of a character's actions. Things that people do can be badass, but not the people themselves, I guess is what I'm getting >.<

Technically, the definition of "Badass" is a tough, aggressive, uncooperative person :p I guess that fits DmC Dante a little more >.< And Nero.

When I first saw Dante in that trailer, I didn't know what to think.
Being tortured, having a sadistic side, the violent flashes of anger in his eyes...

But then, Dante holsters his guns, then saying "My name is Dante," before a smile creases on his face and he leaps off the building. When he smiled, I said to myself "Yeah, that's Dante," then turned off my computer. ^_^

I actually want to cosplay as 2010 Dante for Fan Expo next year.

I'm hoping there actually is a torture scene in the game, as depicted in the trailer. It could serve as Dante's revelation and/or realization to become a serious Demon Hunter. Or, maybe the torture scene could be a flashback to when he was in the orphanage? I think I may be onto something... :shifty:

Chibi, don't worry about it. Keep in mind that the people who support the series in its entirety, both DMC and DmC, aren't the ones that "split the fanbase," it was the die hard DMC fans that don't want to just accept what DmC is doing. They don't want to accept that DmC is different, and when looking for things that are the same as the classics, they disregard the similarities in favor of ones that are different, and slam those elements for not being in line with the classics.

You've made a noble effort, and you should be proud that you even cared enough to try. It's great when everyone can get along, but the world is just full of cynical dickbags who would rather focus on negativity than anything else, and just refuse to shut their cockholsters and let things be as they are.

It's their fault the fanbase split, because they can't grow up.

And yeah sure, whoever wants to have a go at me for saying that is more than welcome, but you have to admit it's incredibly childish that the people who care so adamantly about not liking DmC are the ones who can't accept what's happening, how it's supposed to be different from the classics, and continue to anger themselves over contrived bullshit that isn't true. And of course, wasting their time consistently talking about something they hate, and literally has no impact on their life whatsoever.

*ahem* Anyway, Chibi, don't fret. It's not really about whether you succeed or fail, it's the matter that you actually cared enough to try.

After reading your post, It sounds to me like your confusing "skeptics" with "haters".

Don't worry, its a pretty common things amongst some supporters.

Skeptics are fully willing to give this game a chance if it is to their liking.

Anyone who has had discussions with me in the past will tell you that I have been open to DmC and giving it a chance if it produces something I like.

So far it has gone from being initially "crappy" in my eyes to "somewhat ok" game in my book.

The "Haters" are the ones who can not accept change and thus will never be swayed or open to this new DmC and will thus bash it.

See the clear difference?

And maybe your aren't referring to skeptics in your post?

If so, than disregard my post, because I could not help but come to that conclusion since this thread title spells out to "Skeptics and Supporters of DmC".

Oh how could I forget . . .

"WAH WAH I HATE THIS GAME. 'DONTE ISN'T DANTE
I DON'T LIKE HIS HAIR, IT ISN'T WHITE!
HE'S EMO!
HE LOOKS LIKE TAMEEN WTF?!
CAPCOM SUCKS
NT SUCKS
F** YOUUUUU,"

....Ok I'm done. :]

Hey **** you I was one those!

lol Not really, I actually remember back in the 2010 when I saw the trailer over at IGN or something... I was a bit mindblown by the whole thing but then I decided to take an educated guess and say "hey, maybe this game might not be so bad since the trailer shows no gameplay and little story elements." I was literally eaten by so many negative posts that it was almost humanly impossible to even try to think about replying to any of them XD

As it stands, those torture scenes from the 2010 trailer were his past where he was abused by the demons who ran the institutions he was forced to stay at as a kid. It's suppose to be a juxtaposition of sorts in the trailer, showing how he was treated by the demons, leading into how he then treats them.

There's still so much we haven't seen about this game's story, so I'm quite interested to see all the extra stuff. I have a feeling a lot of the past will be shown in that painting-like form, which...oddly I'm okay with. Normally I hate it when developers puss out and do that for stuff, but...maybe it's the way the art is handled that makes it okay :p

uhhhh, what does this have to do with "supporters" and "skeptics" of DmC?

I thought this thread was more towards those 2 groups?

Sounds to me your outlining what a "hater" does.

I don't think we can exactly split up supporters and skeptics into two distinct groups.
Even I have some (very few) problems with the demo, but I support the overall consensus. Technically, we're all skeptic about an unfinished product unless you're some serious DmC: Devil May Cry zealot.

That's one thing that "Main Event" and people like him mess up. I'm a supporter of what I've seen, but it doesn't make me a blind sheep.
I'm still wary of what I'm purchasing. I'm making the judgement on that what I've seen of the game and what I've played of the demo is enough to pay full retail price. Does that make me a blind follower? No.

That's why you can't easily split us up into two groups. It's all a matter of personal preference, and sometimes which game you started with, considering that all of the games are drastically different.

Yeah, no. Wasn't talking about skeptics so much, pretty much for the reasons you stated. They aren't "haters," just...worried. What Chibi was addressing (that I quoted) was the problem of the split fanbase and how it bothered him, which was why I mentioned the culprits of the split - the haters. Skeptics aren't really responsible for anything.

God, I do not like using that word, "hater."

All in all, there's no real reason for there to be a split. If you like the both games, or only one of them, who gives two flying clumps of chocolate fudge with peanuts?

So very much this.

I hate being called a "blind follower" simply because I like something. I'm extremely interested in this game, and I've done much to inform myself of what I'd be getting into (I'm the guy who has written up almost everything DmC on the DMC WIkia!). To ignore the work I've put in to informing myself just to call me a blind fanboy or something, is irksome.

Can't a brutha just like a game 'cuz it looks fly? Damn!

Yeah it was kind of a joke. I was making fun of the haters for what they do.

My honest opinion about this game stands as:

- Well contrasted visuals. (looks a bit too good on an HDMI 1080p screen.)
- Decent gameplay. (Not better than DMC4/DMC3).
- A lot of content within the demo.
- Not too impressed on the dialogue presented in the demo.
