Thoughts on DmC.

EA9Sol

For Sanguinius!
I'll be perfectly frank here. DmC: Devil May Cry (what a mouthful) is one of my Favorite games and one of three others I'd play over and over again. But, that doesn't make me blind to the faults it has. Nope. It only shows that I'm willing to look past them to enjoy the game. Like many others would do for their personal favorite game. So, in good faith I'm making THIS thread to hear the thoughts of people who like, dislike or indifferent to DmC.

Of course without the name calling and personal insults the most DmC thread end up as. So, let get this crazy party started and remember: STAY SSSTYLISH!!!

Glad you can look past faults with a DMC game. I couldn't play DMC3 properly because I didn't like the color of Vergil's coat or his blocky bangs. But I was able to tough it out either way.^_^

DmC itself doesn't really have anything to make me want to come back and play it again, VD maybe but not DmC.

More weapons would not hurt, at least one more for basic/neutral stance expect rebellion would be nice.
New type of weapon, maybe something tied to devil trigger.
Devil trigger could be expanded more, doing something different depending on stance and option to make it custom like in dmc2 would be good.

Really???

I can say I couldn't get into DmC because I didn't like Kat's design, Lilith looked ewww, one of Mundus's eye was white for some odd reason, or the fact I didn't like Dante's haircut....not because it was black or short because shaved sides is a generic and bland haircut and I played games with bald protagonists.....hell I would've preferred a bald Dante than a bad haircut.

But no I couldn't get into DmC because of too much platforming, bad & unmemorable boss fights, dumbed down difficulty, lazy gameplay mechanics (NT could've added more but was too lazy to continue), and it basically being another Devil May Cry game in terms of story (some bad/cheesy lines, DMC3 attitude to keep the fans in, bad writing, and another lame villain).

Geez even in story it is the same as DMC games when it failed to capture DMC's past deep and enriching gameplay, difficulty, epic boss fights, challenge, and awarding efforts. Gameplay wise its better than most hack n slash games...just don't live up to DMC's standards.

Yeah it's always something with games. They can be good, but I could never get use to their outfits.

I didn't think it lazy, but a different take on the same old same old. DMC never dove into the modern world of now, and that's what DmC did.

Damn server.

ITS.LAZY.

You can say Bayonetta is a different take on DMC (combat wise) and even then DmC's combat pales in comparison to that......well...maybe not really but at least Platinum went all out to put as much into the combat as possible and try to rival DMC's combat. NT just cared about making a bad story. The combat could've used a bit more stuff in it. Its the fifth game in the entry it should try harder even DMC2 at least tried to be better than DMC1 (from a combat perspective it....kinda did).

Bring DMC into the modern world...psshhhh.....look what happened to it...it drove away a majority of the series dedicated fan base and barely attracted a new audience. Even Capcom said that a majority of people who bought DmC were the fans of the old games.

Bayonetta did a better job than this.

If by bring into the modern world you mean turn it into a generic C class action American movie with a bad script. Then yes it did....even if the old DMC games were poorly written (DmC is no different) and so old school. It still succeeded by being great GAMES....the thing their supposed to do DmC is just an average action game with an average story.

Unlike DMC1 & DMC3, DmC won't be remembered for anything special.....just a reboot that sold badly but oh well at least it won't be remembered as a bad reboot (Bionic Commando/Sonic 06) just not a good/needed one.

Made me post a million times

^^^ absolutely agree . At least 5 though and vergil being in a of themb

For DmC2 i want to see Vergil be evil and his good half is talking to him to try and regain control.it would be a race to find sparda and get force edge at the end Vergil and Nelo Angelo split off which would be the final boss and would be like the arkham fight where it is 2 player. Then Dante and Vergil are bros open a shop and hunt demons and help humans rebuild that which was destroyed. Nelo angelo would not be dead and as a post dlc it would show him manifest onto a man he believes is a good host. Which would set up for DmC3 where it is nero struggling to control nelo who makes him believe Dante and Vergil to be the enemy. Nelo had promised that if he did what he said he would help Nero save kyrie who is close to dying. At the end Nero gains control over him but does not get rid of him. There would be a final boss that is not Nero but a greater evil cant think of who and i dont want mundus to be brought back as a final boss.
Edit: also at one point nero fights himself to gain control over nelo similar to the doopleganger fight in dmc3

Thanks for all your input! ^_^ It's nice to see some varied opinions. My thoughts on look of the characters? I really didn't mind. Dante's hair I hated. Lilith...yeah I couldn't stand looking at her. And for everyone else: I liked. For gameplay: I'd say they can step up the difficulty and toss in some more weapon choices. Hell, if DmC can get a Squeal why the hell not? The foundation is set all Ninja Theory has to do is expand on it.

Bit confused . Is vergils standard form in downfall just his devil trigger or is it his new everyday form . In my opinion its just his devil trigger form as he has glowing eyes ,vainy face and a glowing aura . All the traits or dantes devil trigger form

Well that's your opinion, but I totally disagree.

I've seen some really invoative things done with DmC that really put it at a high place in terms of gameplay style.

For me, it's totally up there with DMC4 when it comes to gameplay.

and then there's Vergil's downfall too.
