The Surprising Grace of Ninja Theory's Devil May Cry...

Me too. I'm still a little surprised they did not use GG for cutscenes, but I am okay with the comic images now. ^_^
I still can't forgive them for those cutscenes... :P Nope, I need my CG Vergil. <-- hard fangirlism, sorry. I guess people can be ok with those cutscenes, if they are not as obsessed as I am...;)
Maybe the movie could even include the events of the Vergil comic?
VergilXKat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In a MOVIE!!!!!!!
*dies of an heart attack caused by excessively strong emotions*

Ok, I'm being all serious now. I think that making a movie to tell Vergil's story would be a really interesting expansion of DmC's world. Maybe we could even have some flashabcks of his childhood and adolescence with his foster family. If they ever did something like that, I'd be really excited.
However, I think it highly unlikely that it would interest a sufficient number of people to be worth the while for it to be put under production ... *sighs*

If they ever did something like that, I'd be really excited. The most we know about his childhood and teenage years is from articles about the game. Things like the human foster family and making money from security software. None of it was said in the actual game. So to have it in a movie, along with other events would give more depth to his character.
However, I think it highly unlikely that it would interest a sufficient number of people to be worth the while for it to be put under production ... *sighs*
That's the problem. How many people would want to see it?

Well since this review was before DmC was out and about, It seems like I had hope, but looking at sales, it's doubtful.

Sucks though. This could be the end of DmC, or the end of Devil May Cry in general. And a DMC5 seems a bit doubtful, but Capcom loves money, so obviously make what brings in the most cash.

Vergil fans for sure. Probably many other DmC fans. ...We're not enough, I fear... :'(
Maybe the only way to make it interesting for a larger target could be emphasizing the similarities with V for Vendetta or things like that, maybe by concentrating on the birth of the Order...

That would be a good idea, but then people would say it is copying Vendetta. It's a shame, but I could see people saying that.

I can imagine for a movie of Downfall for it to be a little like Silent hill films. Downfall is set in a dark place of Vergil's personal hell just like how Silent hill makes people come to terms with their past, and creates horror based on insecurities and guilt.

Well, I think the reference to Vendetta was already evident in DmC... But, yeah, it's probable things would take that turn...:/

Never watched Silent Hill... I will add it to my "what to watch" list. :ermm: Sorry.

I was thinking, what about a movie that goes back and forward between VD and Vergil's past? This might be done by having long and detailed flashbacks of his past while Vergil makes his way through Downfall, like the flashabcks are memories which are "triggered" by key places/objects Vergil finds in his personal hell. Obviously, the difference between flashbacks and Downfall could be signalled by graphic elements, like using dark atmospheres for Downfall and brighter ones for his past. Or, well, something like that.
...Or would it be too confusing? I can't tell.

As OppressedWriter said before, this was AFTER DmC came out, check the date in the link or refer back to his post :)...

But you're right that a movie would be a huge imporvement compared to the cutscenes. Maybe the movie could even include the events of the Vergil comic?
What I really want is a dark and gritty movie showing Dante and Vergil's childhood, done perfectly. I've always thought of a scene where it would switch to Dante fighting for his life as a teen, bloodied and hurt. Then it would switch to Vergil in a fancy mansion twirling a glass of wine around in his hands during a party, classical music from Vergil's party would play over both of the scenes. Something like Waltz of the flowers...

I'm sure if Capcom's love for money and greed is strong enough than we might get a great DMC game (DMC5) that surpasses DMC1, DMC3, and DMC4.

Or maybe it will just be another DMC4, with, wait for it...AN EVEN MORE ANNOYING DANTE WITH SPANDEX AND BISHONEN SPARKLES!!
