It could be because this look was cheap/iconic or it could be because they wanted to set it around DMC3 (before/after).

So if Henry doesn't believe in demons what does he think they are? aliens?

Thinks who is? I've seen a lot of shows and documentaries on aliens on history channel, doesn't mean I believe in any them. Chances are they don't look like demons. Even in a demon city they probably want to keep a low profile since most of the people there are probably still human. If the main villain is a rock star who hypnotizes his audience then he's not performing for demons.
