Stances > Styles? Hear me out

DmC have weapon changing on the D-pad, the stances are on the bumpers/shoulder buttons now.

They basically switched around from how DMC4 worked. I can't see how that is innovative.

I like the new controls over DMC4, I liked the fact Dante does Aerial Rave instead of a Helmbreaker as default, one button to launch, gunslinger moves on the fly, being able to prop without switching styles, Trickster Dodge as default instead of sideroll which in DMC4 due dodgy camera angles turned into a backflip, etc.

The two faults I find with this control scheme is the movelist is a tad smaller and the →→+▲ moves which can mess up sometimes. By moving the Angel and Demon modes to the left shoulder buttons and removing 1 dodge button and using ▲+O they could add in some more moves. Maybe add a just release mechanic to parry.

Cos I don't have to let go of the left stick to change nor remember what style I left it, especially gunslinger where usually I waste some disaster gauge or do the Equilibrium shooting instead of prop.

It's simplified. By having 3 weapons to be chosen by 3 diferent stances, you make weapon cycling easier and to some point, more intuitive.

So, having the rest of the weapons on the d-pad makes the player need to use it way less constant, since you'll only need to cycle about one weapon(since nobody will cycle both angel and devil weapons at the same time), while having 3 already "on-hand".

But as a said, this system is not necessarily an improvement as much as it is just a new system. You get more weapons to use, but a smaller move-set for each.
Is not worse than before too. Just diferent. I for one, did not felt the need for a new system, but since it works, I go along with it.

They could've buffed the move set a bit with back forward moves(or forward back) like how calibur was done in dmc4. They could've also added rotating the along stick then attacking like how bayo did it for its own version of twosome time and also added more pause combos for each weapon. If they did all that i think it would be an improvement over what we had before but right now it doesnt seem like one is better than the other.
