Sony Invite Microsoft To Join Blu Ray

The Sony Pictures executive Don Eklund has said that he would love for Microsoft to join up with Blu Ray idea.

We would love to have Toshiba and Microsoft on board. Toshiba can't keep dropping prices much more. It maybe a strategy for fighting a format war, but for us it has to be profitable.

He also made comments about HD/Blu Ray DVD's being overshadowed by movie download numbers:

People aren't interested in downloading videos at the moment. The internet is a good way of delivering music but not video. Blu-ray has a good 8 to 10 years before the internet catches up.

Good move from Sony. Looks like they are trying to sound nice to their "rivals" perhaps this move - if accepted will have really good results in both companies.

Its a marketing strategy they are using to get more big companies onboard with Blu Ray after a couple dropped it.
