Am I the only one who saw no resemblance to DMC?

I definitely saw a game of the same genre, but not a game that matches previous installations in the franchise. I have my reasons.

  1. "Flawless Kill": This was the thing that bothered me the most, the ranking system seemed to be that of a mainstream one. It matched that of what I believe I have seen in Bullet Storm. And really it looked nothing like Devil May Cry.
  2. Gore: When I saw the trailer, one thing could not pass my eye without criticism, The amount of gore compared to previous DMC's was off the charts. The only real time I enjoy gore in my games, is when it is rewarding like in Manhunt. This game however seems to have the same problem I had with God Of War. It was relying on that gore to keep the crowd satisfied. The combat looked more "Brutal" than Stylish.
  3. Lack of stylishness: It was, as I have pointed out, more brutal than stylish. Dante was practically just acting like an insane guy going on a rampage, the moves didn't really look like they "connected" into a combo, more or less like he was just trying to murder somepony else.
As you can clearly see this really is nothing like DMC, more or less a new Brutal version of it.

Watching these new trailers Im sure that I thinked that this game have more blood and gore than precedessors, but for me seeing gore in games are normal as Im not vulnerable to this as for me its fictional.

I don't want another god of war...god of war was focused on brutal and gory while Devil May Cry is over the top and stylish....that is the reason why even though they are almost the same that itself is a major difference...I don't like the gameplay one bit...God Of War Copied Devil May Cry....not the other way around...

gameplay wise gore doesn't really change anything, it just gives the viewer more of a visual feast instead of oh yay i killed that enemy, he fell down and disappeared....woo lol

That is what is different though...yes God of War has that gory feel to it and it is satisfying to do an execution and watch all the blood and gore you do because that is the emphasis behind the gameplay of God Of War...now Devil May Cry is different because it is not about the way the character dies its how you do it in an awesome stylish way...have multiple enemies in the screen and you go from one to another...you don't have time to just stand there and admire the way someone falls to the floor and dies....In the Devil May Cry you rape your enemy through out the whole combat...unlike God of War you just have a satisfying end....

but now you can kill the enemies stylishly, AND the enemies die stylishly that's all i'm saying. :)

Ninja Theory already stated that Dante was not a professional fighter looking good as he fights, this Dante would be more of a street brawler, as you can see him almost falling as he swings Arbiter around.

Not saying you can't dislike it because of that, but it's not like "it's not DMC at all because of that", it's just a different visual take on the combat, the gameplay may still feel like the others (not saying it definitely will)

We already have a god of war

The way new Dante fights is more so on the "I've never used a sword so let's see what would happen if I did this move" side. However, when he uses the osirus scythe, he looks like he's been using scythes for years.

I dont even get how you can even compare this to God of War since GoW is about killing anyway possible even if that means spamming the same magic attack or combo until everything dies. Although new Dante's moves arent as polished it doesn't mean the combat system is simple. Gore does not eqaul GoW if anything it makes the world seem more real since most things tend to bleed when cut.

The gameplay reminds me a lot of DMC. It has the stylish bar, several combos return from other games, and there are huge improvements in the aerial combat. All the sites that have played it said it was very stylish. I don't see why they're are still complaints.

I liked how the early grunt enemies had shields thaf cancelled out Dantes whip once. To me this means that strong enemies may be resistant the whip so cant fully rely on it all the time and higher difficulties may make u use the whip with more skill like instead of pulling an enemy towards you to start a combo you may have to use a combo first to knock the enemy off balance first in order for the whip to connect.

1. Could you elaborate on the first point more please?

2. I've played Manhunt and if your ok with Manhunt's gore than how could DmC's gore bother you?

3. I agree.

As I said, the guy playing hasn't ever played it before and is still getting used to which button does what, and its still in development.

I saw nothing wrong with the gore, really. In fact, it made sense to have that blood spilling around. Makes the wounds seem more real.
I don't agree that the combat's more brutal, though. Dark Souls, God of War, and even Assassin's Creed's combat is more along the lines of brutal with their painful take downs and over the top kills (I saw Kratos with those gauntlets just punching the crap out of that guy in that one boss battle). That, and you don't see anyone in any of those games jumping fifty feet into the air slashing and shooting (without a put-away-gun-take-out-sword animation) with all of that flair and what not.
Sure, DmC's combat looks a bit less graceful than the original series, but I'd say that all the style is still in there...albeit a bit slower (yes, I believe the combat's slower than the previous games, but that's cool with me).

Like I said in the paragraph above, Devil May Cry has you jumping fifty feet into the air slashing and shooting. God of War has you stabbing and slicing enemies brutally.

They are in no way similar at all. I've never seen combat in God of War go as fast and intense as DMC or DmC's.
