Railazel's Problem Expectations

I guess that's my opinion on what's the highest evolution of combat thus far.

I like my games to be fast fluid and filled with difficulty. I really wanna feel like "Damn I can't seem to beat these guys. What if I try this or this? <insert F Bomb>" It gives me that feeling of "I wanna learn what it takes to beat them." Much like a video game should.

DMC's gameplay is dated. Seriously, everyone else took to DMC and Zelda's gameplay and they sucked all the fun out of it. Right now, the thing they're killing is Call of Duty. I believe those who haven't played enough DMC or Zelda games will buy games with similiar combat and be completely oblivious to the originals (Bayonetta/Darksiders). Also, I haven't really seen anyone use Prince of Persia's combat system but I have seen them use it's platforming/puzzles (Sup Darksiders). God of war's brutality and gameplay has been used. (Sup Dante's Inferno)

I'm sick of this repetition. I couldn't enjoy Bayonetta because I kept saying "Why didn't they just make a new Devil May Cry?" and when I describe it to friends I just said "It's like Devil May Cry." It's seems to me that no one wants to try something new. They wanna play it safe. Games like Syndicate and Bulletstorm tried new things.

I'd also ike to add that Kingdom Hearts's only difference in combat between Ninja Gaiden, is that it has a menu.
Which is why I liked it alot. I'm also looking forward VERY forward to Versus. I love fluid combat, it's just beautiful and entertaining to watch someone play it. You don't have that feeling of "When is it going to be my turn?" You have that feeling of "It's fine. Go ahead and play again."

Hopefully that makes sense.

Oh you made perfect sense, in fact I agree with you.

Personally, I would prefer a game with a mix of strategy and free- form combat and platforming. A game where creativity meets strategizing. I just hate how alot of games are focusing on action instead of trying to lead the audience into taking a breather every once in a while. Sure, getting an adrenaline rush while playing is nice and all but I would at least like to learn from the experience instead of consistently button- mashing.

That's why I like DMC 1, Kingdom Hearts 2, Sly Cooper, and Bulletstorm because you have to be observant, take your time, think a little, then button mash and beat the crap out of your opponent. Not only that, but you also had to search and pay attention to your enviroment for key stuff.

But, just to ask, you do realize that Platinum Games couldn't make a new DMC because DMC belongs to Capcom, right?

I would personally keep strategy games and action games unmixed and add platforming to action games only if it doesn't feel forced... but mixing action with RPG is basically my idea of a perfect marriadge, there was always a reason why Key of Heaven/Kingdom of Paradise was one of the best PSP games for me

Two words: Dark Souls.
The perfect blend of strategy, skill, combat, and experimentation. And a good challenge that punishes the blind.

I don't remember ever really thinking all too hard when I played Dark Souls. I just went in and did whatever came naturally to me. Of course I died alot but it wasn't like I stressed over it like I do on other games.

1) Yeah, it's what I meant by wanting to learn how to defeat your opponents. Thinking on your feet is something I enjoy doing. So you can understand how I felt when I saw Sherlock Holmes the movie. My goodness that combat was masterfully executed.

2) I did after I decided to educate myself on why they didn't just make another DMC. Then I said "DMC is dead!?"

But honestly, no one really knows about Devil May Cry like us here in the US. We got lucky and picked out a great game. Others probably think it's about a vampire, I mean there is a guy with a red trench coat, a vest on, and white hair. Dracula? Is that you?

I don't think people think of Dracula when they see the title "Devil May Cry" and there's a guy with two guns doing some weird (but awfully cool) pose on the cover. I think it just looked and sounded corny to some people.

One of my friends thought that when i showed him the game lol

Really? I thought strategy was crucial to get through some of the dungeons. A little bit of preparation and timing too.

I showed my friends DMC3, they thought Dante was someone from Naruto.:(
I showed DMC3 to my aquaitences, they called him red homo stripper.

.............Naruto niiiiiiccccccceeeeee.......red homo stripper.......I guess Americans aren't ready for a main character who parades around only in pants & a open jacket plus some boots.

Plus gotta admit....

This does look a bit gay.

As corny and slightly androgynous as he is in DMC3, he's an aspect of "cool" as far as anime goes.

If I had never seen this character or that series in my life and he popped up in an anime, I'd be 110% sure he'd kick everyone's ass.

But when you put it in perspective, he doesn't look anything like someone we'd meet in real life. Other than a cosplayer. But that's by design!

Not when I played.

I agree with red homo stripper, but what about him looked he would come from Naruto? Who in Naruto looks like him?

But we all played the game looking at him dressed like this. Some of us even played the game with him coatless. And then there are the guys who are going to watch up to, at the most, five minutes of the new Dante being completely naked.

Wonder what this says about the DMC/DmC community?

Referring to the first message in this thread, I’m also a tiny bit worried about the lack of manual lock-on, because the auto lock-on can swap between enemies even though the player doesn’t want that to happen and the target can be kind of lost in the heat of the battle. I’ve always used manual lock-on so that I know I am hitting the very exact enemy I want to. Though, of course not when I’m blindly slashing around in the middle of a big flock of enemies. But if people who have tested the game haven’t missed the manual lock-on, but are somewhat happy with the auto lock-on, then I guess it might not be that big of a problem after all. But just like with everything else, first I have to be able to play the game myself before I can give a verdict to it. Yet at this point I think it looks cool and my fingers are itching to play it already.

And oh yeah, about the platforming. I think I will die a hundred times with those jumps and whatnot… >_< In the previous DMC titles some platforming etc. parts made me very frustrated, but I’m hopeful that in DmC moving around will be somewhat easier or more fluent. But if it isn’t, then I just have to clench my teeth and keep at it till I succeed. :P

People who don't like anime usually say any anime looking character is from Naruto because Naruto is so popular in America and other countries outside Japan.

DMC1 Dante dressed really fancy like he was going to a ball or something(just remove the guns & swords & add a bowtie).

DMC2 Dante dressed like an actual demon hunter.

DMC3 Dante dressed like those male model guys you see on men fashion catalogs usually exposing their abs to appear more sexy.

DMC4 Dante dressed like a party cowboy(believe it or not cowboy like clothing with the long sway jackets & high boots was really popular in the 21st century among many American adult males).

DmC Dante dressed like a punk rocker(with holes & tears in his jeans, ragged tees, & a dragged coat a fashion I saw common in teens when I was in middle school & even some of high school).

Its like Dante's appearance & fashion is based on whats popular in the fashion...God that french guy Angry Joe interviewed at E3 about DmC actually was making sense.
