DT's on to something. It was ice cream cake.
 
We all know how much he loves strawberry sundaes. He was given a strawberry sundae ice cream cake for his birthday, and then Nero took it. This left him embittered and he set out on a quest to find it... He still hasn't found it, apparently.

that could be the story for dmc5 it would be perfect. and the ending... Vergil has it.:)
 
And so Dante has an epic fight over his ice cream cake and defeats Vergil again, only to realize... His cake's expired. D:
