Notification problem

I get notifications about PM's that i read about a day ago, which is, to say the least, annoying. Why is it so? I DO wish to be notified, but not that slow...

It might just be that the system is slow. It's an efficent system, but it has to prioritise to whoever needs it first.

This hasn't happened to me, but then I don't really PM/VM much, I need it more to IM'ing for this reason.

Yeah I used to get this, it resolved itself eventually, but if it ever comes up for your VMs, the quick way to solve it is to unapprove, and then approve the messages on your profile by ticking the white, square box next to your messages and using the drop-down moderation menu at the bottom of your user page.
