New Sonic game trailer unveiled by Sega

True to their word, Sega did unveil the teaser trailer for a new Sonic game today ahead of the iconic hedgehog's 20th anniversary - although we still don't know what the game's called.

Sega had promised to start celebrating Sonic's 20th birthday early (the actual anniversary is in June) - and today they posted a video on Facebook of a trailer for an as-yet-unnamed game.
It shows Sonic racing around what appears to be a 3D recreation of a classic 2D level, before splitting in two - landing as classic Sonic and modern Sonic.

Not much else is known about the game for now, other than that the end of the trailer says it will be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 before the end of the year.
It comes shortly after it was spotted that Sega had registered two new domains - sonicgenerations.com and sonic-generations.com, strongly suggesting that the new game will be called 'Sonic Generations'. Having seen the trailer, the name certainly seems appropriate.
We reported last year that Sega might be planning 'to release a game that recreates a number of classic levels and games in both 2D and 3D.'
