Nero in DmC

ya think?

While technically, there's no real reason to like him, I believe that his issued can be fixed with a few minor adjustments.

If you look at DMC4's story, you'll find that it follows rather closely to District 9 (which itself claimed to be adapted from "Alive in Joburg"). but the director himself makes no mention of being inspired by DMC4... it's all coincidental. No really.

Imagine if Nero were the nerdy, yet still arrogant protagonist that Wikus van de Merwe was, and just pretty much give him the same story from there.

Wikus cries, but isn't considered weak (he only does it once, and only after being reduced to eating cat food and having to try to cut off his own arm -- and also after Kyrie -- I mean his wife -- hangs up on him after calling her for help).

The same basic outline is there. District 9 even has the "Phantom Devil Trigger" (the mech suit).

A few changes would have to be made to introduce DT earlier, but it wouldn't necessarily make the story worse.

Also, Christopher is a somewhat silly alien (demon) who wears a red coat... but isn't campy to the point of annoyance. You feel for him, and root for his escape.

I get the feeling that Christopher was named after Christopher Belmont because the director of the movie was a fan of games himself.

And slowly, Nero could end up being corrupted totally by becoming a full demon. Arkham became a demon on purpose... Nero could be a human (or quarter demon, however you want it) who becomes one by accident.

Fortuna could even represent the corrupt government that keeps the demons inside the hell gate/district, drawing even more parallels.

Oh there's even an Angus-like character fascinated with his arm and actually tries to cut it off to gain its power for his own. This is after the scientists do it, so it's obvious that everyone wants that arm.

They need it to control the alien guns/devil arms.

Trust me, if DMC4 (or DmC 2) were more like District 9, it would make for one hell of a game.

Edit:

The bad guy could be this aggressive alpha male jackass who tries to hunt Nero down like in the movie.

Wait a minute...

Joking. Credo was a nice guy overall, but if they had made him more odious, then they could have given us a bad guy that we all would have wanted to see go down.

This is what I would love Nero to be:

Nero is a headstrong, but scared and confused teenager. His demonic arm awoke and as a result, his foster parents kicked him out of the house...out of fear and anger. Nero feels that the world has betrayed him, and that he has nowhere to go, nothing to do. He spends his time slaughtering whatever demon he comes across, to prove that he himself is different from what people call him, a demon. He isn't angsty nor emo, but as a confused and scared kid should be. He can't begin to even understand why he would gain the arm of a demon, nor does he want it. After being raised in a foster home of heavily strict Catholics, Nero has a strong faith in a higher power. Though when he gains his demonic arm and his kicked out on the streets, he begins to denounce himself from his faith and blame god for what has become of himself. He rips the only memento that he has of his mother, a silver cross, off of his neck and throws it blindly behind him before he starts to run away.
However someone picks up the cross and holds it gently as they walk up to the startled and upset Nero, it was Kyrie. Kyrie was a woman who helped out around the local church. She helped out in the orphanage and worked with determination, she was a hard worker with a gentle heart. Unlike the old Kyrie, this Kyrie is strong-willed though still very much the same sweet girl, she isn't afraid to fight back against an attacker or try to get something done, even if its impossible. She had been watching Nero for awhile, deciding on what to do with him. Kyrie in DmC would be three to four years older that Nero, so she could provide that guidance that could help Nero. She gives him his cross back and tells him that it is very beautiful, that he should hold something like that closer to his heart. Nero is immediately struck by this beautiful girl, her kind eyes winning him over. Taking it out of her hand, he stops himself from making a rude comment and thanks her. She takes notice of his dirty and raggedy appearance, and of his arm wrapped thickly in black cloth. She offers him a place to stay, assuming that he is homeless. Nero, not wanting to bring pain and hardship to his new friend, simply runs off. He doesn't want to risk being rejected again, nor does he want to frighten her with his arm.

After running for several hours on end, he starts to feel hunger and extreme exhaustion. Crawling into an alleyway, he collapses within a puddle full of murky water, too weak to raise himself up. He decides to just lay there, to gather his strength. Though as the sun starts to set, a man walks into the alleyway, his hair oddly spiked up. He wore the finest clothing, gorgeously tailored and well fitting on the tall individual. He offers Nero his hand and he pulls Nero up, dusting him off. Taking off his expensive coat, he places it around Nero's shoulders. The man is straight forward, telling Nero that he knows of his arm and his bloodline. Then he lets go of Nero's arm and begins to walk away, motioning for Nero to follow. He offers a place for Nero to stay with a bewitching smile, he tells Nero that everything would be alright. Nero agrees to go with the man, though feels guilty for not taking up Kyrie's offer earlier. As Nero follows the stranger out of the alleyway, he stops to ask him a question.

"What is your name?"

It was Vergil.

^_^That would be my plan for Mission 1-2.

Well it's time for another round of "TerrorA Tales!"

If anyone here remembers my long post about Vergil's redemption and Death in DmC2, with a little bit at the end of Kat and baby Nero, this is a continuation.

The backstory (how Kat died, who's behind everything, etc etc) will be revealed over the course of the game, but this is our first meeting with Nero, age 15

14 years after DmC2 (which is 1-2 years after DmC) Dante and his Partner, the badass biker girl known as "Lady" get a lead on a new threat. Unsure whether it's either of their old enemies, demons or angels, the two investigate.

Dante and Lady split up to investigate, and Dante is attacked by Ophanim (google it). Dante beats them easily along with other enemy types, when a Seraph appears. He slashes Dante on the back and flies off. Dante chases the Seraph as the Angel taunts him, calling him "half-breed" "Dark-spawn" and "half fallen welp" (unlike demons, angels keep their insults classy). When Dante catches up

Dante: Time to clip your wings.

Seraph: Oh, no. I won't sully my hands fighting gutter-trash. We have a special enemy for you.

Dante: What the hell are you talking about?

Seraph: (smirks) Young One! Come here!

Boy: (about 15, wearing a white long hooded coat, blue MMA shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers appears. The hood is over his face so you can't see it. He's carrying a Zweihander styled after a grave cross) Yes, Sariel?

Sariel (the Seraph): He is the one you were warned of. The enemy of Man and Angels. Dante, son of the traitor Eva.

Boy: (reaches up to unsheathe sword, and we get a quick look at his right arm, with cracked blue skin with white markings) Prepare to die, Hellspawn (hood falls off as he unsheathes the sword, revealing blue eyes and white hair)

Dante: V-vergil?

I think it would be cool if neros character would be nephilim as well. maybe now that mundus is gone, dante and the humans start finding more nephilim here and there trying to recruit and train them to help fight vergil and the demons. have it to where nero shows the most promise out of the bunch and dante turns him into his apprentice. I would like to see dante be older and a bit more serious, and nero be similar to dante in the first DmC, more angry and shoot first ask later.

That's what I was implying in my post.

He's a demon killer being manipulated by the angels. He's still unsure about who he is, and the angels promise to tell him his past.

For DmC2 i want to see Vergil be evil and his good half is talking to him to try and regain control.it would be a race to find sparda and get force edge at the end Vergil and Nelo Angelo split off which would be the final boss and would be like the arkham fight where it is 2 player. Then Dante and Vergil are bros open a shop and hunt demons and help humans rebuild that which was destroyed. Nelo angelo would not be dead and as a post dlc it would show him manifest onto a man he believes is a good host. Which would set up for DmC3 where it is Nero struggling to control Nelo who makes him believe Dante and Vergil to be the enemy. Nero is a vigilante doing odd jobs trying to colelct enough money to be able to pay for Kyrie's bills in the hospital. Nelo had promised that if he did what he said he would help Nero save Kyrie who is close to dying. At the end Nero gains control over him but does not get rid of him. Credo steals some of Nero's power so he can become stronger because he feels Nero isn't fit to have this power. The final boss would be Credo and the epilouge would have Nero be able to save Kyrie and thus would either end the series or leave it open for a forth. Id perfer it as a trilogy TBH.

Still say he should be there's a lot of potential in making him the spawn of Mundus Vergil killed that barely survived (perhaps by feeding off the energy/remains of the mother) and found and cared for by one of Mundus's high-ranking generals and his faction still loyal to him, and is out for vengeance against the Sparda brothers. During his roaring rampage of revenge, he has multiple bloody clashes with Dante and gradually learns of his demon despot father why they did what they did and makes his choice to side with or against the demons. While Dante is caused to think about the actions taken that day that led to this. Or perhaps he learns of the ruthless murder of his demon mother and focuses his rage at hunting Vergil. Hell, named Nero or not, it could make for a good original character and potential boss.

But at the very, very least, don't dick us around, introducing a new integral character and tell us jack-all about him, or make him an obvious copy of Dante. The only thing that separated Nero from Dante in that game personality-wise was that he was playing it straight compared to Dante's almost trololol antics.
