My thoughts on DmC

This game was tough for me to judge at first but here goes

The combat
I found the combat refreshing, fun and engaging.I liked.the aerial freedom, but i feel that the jc has been toned down too much. The weapon switching is quick and seamless, i in particular liked the ability to engage multiple enemies at once.I was.not fond of angel and demon specific enemies, however in the right setting with a group of other enemies they can be cause for interesting combat. All in all i found it very enjoyable.

Enemies
I found the enemies to be quite interesting in the game. In particular the dreamrunners and drekovac. They make for brilliant foes. I also loved the butchers and rages , i thought they were badass. The rages forced you to be on your toes in groups as there sometimes unpredictable. This is one reason i am greatful for the camera in the game.I had.great.fun beatin up them big dumb tyrants too.

Bosses
Ok i have mixed feeling on the bosses. On anything below son of sparda they are overly predictable amd.far too easy. The mundus spawn was a waste.of a boss imo as.was mundus. However on higher difficulties i really enjoyed the hunter , succubus , barbas and vergil fights. Vergil is a fun fight even after learning his patterns he is still fun as is the succubus. J'cing the hunter.is extremely satisfying too.

Gameplay
I enjoyed all aspects gameplay except the platforming. Limbo was cool and very creative, the way it broke apart.and interacted with you was very inventive. The level design was very good , it was a sight to behold on some levels and was very well done.

For someone who put a chunk of my.life into the originals and in particular DMC4 on console and pc, i had reservations about this game. I am glad though that i tried it and it.won me over. I still prefer the previous too games but all in all i thoroughly enjoyed DmC and it is a great game.

I agree with all your points except the bit about jump cancelling. I don't think it's been toned down.

I personally think it's mandatory along with the other 'cancelling'(like gun cancelling) to get rid of that little pause in between hits and make Dante move more quickly. Also while jump cancelling was difficult to do in the previous games, in this one it's a bit tricky to make it look good imo.
Early after release people tried to do it as quickly as in the other games which just made Dante look silly but after watching videos of michellegun, Sam D or that other dude who made the 'Shodown' and 'Gunslinger' combos videos, i actually think it looks just as cool as in the other games... if not cooler since you can see the animations much better. And that stuff while not as difficult as some of the old techniques, is not as easy as some would let us think.

All of the above is just my opinion of course(mandatory disclaimer lol) and i'm not trying to start an argument. Just sharing my point of view. As i said i agree with pretty much everything else. Pretty much....

I do like the platforming:tongue:

When i say toned down i simply mean there are less available cancels which is not necessarily inferior , but coming into it after playing DMC4 for so long it is a small letdown in comparison.

I have had and played DmC since last january and still can't pull off what i capable of in 4 , that isn't a bad mark against DmC it is just a shortcoming for me personally.

Ah i was never against DmC , i was just worried it would not have a DMC games essence.but it does and i enjoyed it. I like both universes i just prefer the original is all. :)
That's simply how I feel. I always just thought DmC was fun and when I'm playing a game, that's one of the most important parts. It's a little different but, definitely still a game that holds its own quite well in the franchise. An overall strong title. I do still also enjoy the originals because well, my favorite is still DMC 1.

I agree with you on the bosses. And the one thing I thought was unnecessary in DmC were those long ass missions that started with you following Kat around. It really didn't get me pumped for anything. Felt like a chore, and it could've been one long cutscene instead, imo.
They could have easily condense them into cut-scenes, but then they decided it's a good idea to interrupt the player with long hallway that adds nothing to the gameplay.

Gee, I couldn't even jump.

I think the only boss really worth going against was the final one. The rest, while a visual spectacle, just kind of falls a little flat when it comes to fighting them. They aren't as good as the make themselves look.
are the any tougher in DMD? i never got to it. i lost my copy of DmC then i had to reboot my ps3. ugh.

"Tougher" is just launching more attacks at you. Like he said, they just get more aggressive. The final Vergil boss fight however is one that is worthy for any Devil May Cry game.

The other day I experienced a funny glitch and Vergil became immortal. When I got him down to that final part in the fight, he just wouldn't take any more damage. I was like fffffffuuuuuuuuuucccckkkkkk.

It was fun to play around with though because I was just testing how long I can keep the fight going.

You guys keep calling Vergil's boss fight a good one and I agree, but I keep getting my ass handed to me by hollow Vergil. I have all achievements on PS3 and PC, but now 360 Hollow Vergil on Hell and Hell is like "nope. not today young lady"

I never got much trouble with hollow vergil at all to be honest?

Like, I don't think I ever lost to him. Sure I got quite some damage in most early runs, but I always end up winning without having to run around to gain time and such "desperate" tatics. Maybe I just play better with Vergil than with Dante, maybe is the presentation of the battle that gets me really pumped (DAT RAIN) and makes me play better.
