It was great to hear that The Darkness II is currently in development. Today, that news got even greater with the revelation that Mike Patton would be reprising his role as – you guessed it – The Darkness.

Mike Patton: Always a stylish fellow

Horror blog Hell Descent chatted to Ipecac Recordings, the music label that Mr. Patton co-created, and a spokesperson has confirmed that the Faith No More singer would be returning to the games industry for the spooky sequel.

In case you never played the original, Mike contributed his own unique vocal talents to the game as the demon who possessed main character Jackie Estacado. Grunting, squealing and whispering, the game just wouldn’t have been the same without Patton, so it’s brilliant to hear that he’ll be coming back.

Incidentally, you may also know Patton from his work with Left 4 Dead and Portal (where he played the Anger Sphere). If not, then you may be familiar with his musical acts, including Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Peeping Tom, Lovage, Tomahawk and – of course – Faith No More.

Our first look at The Darkness II
