That's the theory, but not the fact. We have yet to know where he got his angelic powers from, but if he indeed have Eva as his mother in this Devil May Cry as well, then it is a very well-placed theory.

I find it funny if Sparda was a demon who became an angel after he died and eva was an angel who become a demon after she died.

If there is an angelic god i think it might be someone new. Since angels a new to the DmC series NT might just make up the whole angelic side of the story.
