Is this new DmC a spinoff to dmc 3

It revolves around a person named "donte" who isn't a devil hunter and son of sparda like "dante" so it is a prequel to dmc3 and the whole sparda saga so i think this is some side-story of 'devil may cry' so this game should explain something about sparda and demons

This game is a reboot to the DMC series that has NOTHING to do with the original series other than the fact that it will apparently draw "inspiration" from it.

DmC John is a reboot of DMC serie. They are using ideas and primarily gameplay from DMC serie. But it's not the same serie.

Have you joined here from the Capcom mb's? Because this sounds just like something that would be posted there.
 
Well, a year ago when we know less than we know now, the pro-dmc side would have suggested that this game was a prequel to appease the more vocall and angry anti-dmc side, which was shot down pretty fast.

Not sure if i would have wanted one since DMC4 ignored the potential of DMC3's direction and went forward past DMC1 into the future which meant they should have dealt with DMC2.
 
It was originally intended to be an origin story which got me all excited and then what did they say?

But it is a origin story.

Just not a origin story for the original DMC series (we already have one in the form of DMC3).

This will be the origin story for the new DmC series.

Originally it was to be and origin story for the original series and it would change the title to DMC to DmC
his hair was to turn white and I thought it would explain Dante before DMC3

None of what you just said defines it as a reboot. A reboot is a total changing of a franchise. An origin story taking place in an alternate universe isn't a reboot.

A REBOOT is not a total changing of anything! It's just a starting over. It's like turning off a computer and turning it back on again after it freezes. That's why it's called a "reboot". Chris Nolans Bat films are a reboot. The new spider-man film is a reboot. Ultimate Spider-man was a reboot. Hell, DC is rebooting their whole rooster! Any changes are subject to the artistic whims of whoever is in charge. Their are no set rules for what constitutes the details of any reboot.

And what's the similarity between those "starting overs?" They are CHANGING! The new spider- man film is CHANGING the interpretations of the old. DC is CHANGING the interpretations of their old characters. A reboot has to have a change involved. Otherwise, restarting the series would be redundant. What you're thinking of is a REVIVAL which is a restart of a series without changing anything.

And Ultimate Spider- Man isn't a reboot, its a seperate universe.
 
That's what I meant. I said the specific changes are subject to the choices of the ones in charge of the project. My point was not everything needs to change in order that it be a reboot.
