Yeah its not great, if you want a better online game of the same style then try Red Dead Redemption (also made by Rockstar). GTA IV was their first attempt at online and they learnt a lot from it.
In my opinion, you can't beat the ones on ps1 and ps2.
I really don't like GTA4. (Although, that might have something to do with the fact that i am stuck on it.)
GTA4 is a bit of a pain in the arse.
My dad said if he was a gamer, he'd love to play Red Dead Redemption

I liked the game but the multiplayer just felt like it was unfinished and to many people ruining it for others by glitching etc. Red Dead Redemption is superb and my uncle said its the first game for a long time where he was stunned by the visuals and the gameworld.
To be honest RDR made GTA IV look like a test game for it.

Like what other users above posted, the online multi-player for GTAIV are not really up to par with other games' online multi-player mode. If you want the best Rockstar's game of online gaming, play Red Dead Redemption.
yeah gta4 online play is pitiful. :/ I'd rather play socom online with my ps2
