I love the creepy vibe of the castle, none of the rest of DMC can capture this feeling, here's my let's play of it:

DMC 1 is probably my favourite Devil May Cry game. And I played DMC 3: Special Edition first. As you said, it’s just the feel of the castle and the surrounding areas like outdoors and the Underworld parts. All of those vibes and the nostalgia make it one of my favourites in the series.

The atmosphere, art direction (color palette to be specific) and game design in DMC is top notch. Instant classic

Well, for me there is on the top this or other. This is my favorite game. I like the others but I wouldn't invest on the all the time I had if they weren't related to this one.
