If you could rewrite DMC4....

How would you make DMC4 rewritten with Dante as the main hero and not Nero?

Could I do vergil instead as it would be easier to reveal vergil grew up in Fortuna after his mom died and this game shows how he "fell" and decided to do what he did in 3.

I thought Nero was good addition. Story wasn't over the top and had one obvious goal.
DMC4 seemed to fit with the previous games so I can't really say what would be changed for the better.
