Probably because you don't have a weapon which is really effective against them like Ifrit.
I mean, if Force Edge is about as strong as the Rebellion, they should prove really tough even with Devil Bringer - at least until you master the game..

well reving the sword helped but yeah they are kinda hard we wont have any other weapons for nero so there has to be a trick to beating them
