How I think Styles should come back in DmC2

Dante actually learns a new way of fighting to gain a new style.
Kat-Trickster
Phineas-Royal Gaurd
Eva-Gun Slinger
Sparda-Sword master
Vergil-Darkslayer
There will be a neutral option where Dante has no special style moves.
Enemy AI will adapt to which style you choose. You can only use one style at a time/per mission.

Trickster: Makes all attacks more aerial combat based. Normal dodge turns into a dash. Angle dodge turns into the modded version that Sam D has. And if timed perfectly Dante grows ethereal wings allowing to traverse much faster and is able to fly vertically up and down. The glide is faster and you stay air born longer. Dodging will in demon mode into an enemy will stun them and demon dodging will still give the damage boost but repeatedly pressing the dodge button afterwards will have Dante dash around(akin to Nero's tablehopper) leaving after images that make enemies attack in the wrong direction. All attacks do less damage.

Royal Guard: Makes Dante fight in a more realistic style increasing damage of all melee attacks but greatly reduces the crowd control capabilities of all melee attacks. Parrying an enemy will immediately redirect the damage they were about to deal to you back at them. But only if you tap the attack button, If you hold it down Dante will store the energy from the attack. You can release the pent up energy by clicking in the right thumb stick. You can customize how the energy is released Ex: Goes in a straight line hitting the target and all enemies behind it, a single burst concentrating all the energy onto a single target knocking them out of rage/super-armour mode, or a wide cone sending all enemies flying.

Gunslinger: Increases overall damage of all fire arms. Bullet streaks change color depending on what mode your in. Each gun has their own stinger move. All weapon movesets are now incorporated with a specific firearm (Ex: Dante will use rebellion and the shotgun in tandem with each other.) Making all attacks more crowd control based and builds style points significantly quick but combo speed is drastically reduced. Dante also gets the abilities wild stomp and bodysurf from the old series.

SwordMaster: Dante gets various moves from the original series along with the ones he already has.(It also will introduces some brand new ones.) Movesets become more centered around ground based combat and keeping enemies on the ground. Kicker is turned into an axe kick slamming an enemy into the ground and in the air he grabs the enemy and slams them into the ground. Payoff is turned into a haymaker knocking the enemies into others and in the air Dante grabs the enemy and does a 360 spin all the way onto the ground.

Darkslayer: Focuses on and adds to moves like drive, dimension slash, and rico shot.

Oh no styles are still there they just have another name and are now modes that must be switched out using the trigger buttons rather than the d-pad or incorporated into the control scheme.
What do you mean by Incorparated into the control scheme?

DmC's control scheme is really more of a hybrid of all the styles introduced in the series. Switching weapons via shoulder buttons is just that, switching weapons for different kinds of attacks such as heavy or quick sweeping ones. It's not like you even need to be on gunslinger mode to do rainstorm and sh!t. You can do stuff whenever. It's not like you'll do anything else with Rebellion when holding the triggers. So no.

The styles are not there and mechanically DmC is the best the franchise has ever been. Regardless whether or not the next one is DmC or DMC the mechanics are one thing that shouldn't change and we should just see more work on what DmC introduced.

It's funny because that's what I want the styles to be if they introduced again. No dedicated style button, it's integrated into the control scheme.

Yeah I think DmC had the right idea with incorporating styles into Dante's default moveset. It certainly lacks the nuances of the styles in DMC 3 ( or myriad of mixes in 4 ), and made some of the moves bafflingly useless ( oh hai there, rainstorm! ). But there's incredible potential in having a Dante with all his cardinal styles in his disposal at the same time.

Hope they explore this idea further.

It should probably be said out loud but DmC doesn't have styles, angel and demon mode are not styles they are modes and just because there are moves that we associate with a style doesn't mean it's a style, it's still just a move.

Btw, as to the original post, DmC already did what you're asking for...
Here is an unfinished video that I plan on finishing sometime in the future.
Well I'm just saying that if they were to bring styles back they should have the styles actual change the pre-existing moveset and abilities in their own unique way , no obligatory style button.
If they did this they could keep the control scheme the same.
