ever since i first played devil may cry i refereed to it as "DMC"

but everyone i know acts like iv gone crazy when i call the old series dmc

am i going mad or is a problem with them?

That to me seems like the problem is with them. Devil May Cry's initials are DMC, that's fact. Pure and simple.

So if they think you only have to refer to it as Devil May Cry, that's illogical and quite honestly stupid. Besides, the new game is called DmC. The clear difference is that the 'm' is lowercase. This was obviously Ninja Theory's intention to differentiate between the two game series. In whole DmC is a different game series altogether. Whether based purely on Devil May Cry or not, I think it was already explained to be unlinked with Devil May Cry's storyline etc.

DMC is an abbreviation for Devil May Cry, DmC is a stylisation of Devil May Cry.

Problem solved.

Doesn't really matter.

DMC is classic series. DmC is new game.

You could say new DmC for differentiation.
