DMC1 is an abandoned island. DMC3 is an ancient demon tower. But DMC4 Is just a city, where people are supposed to live. So how is ANY of this explained(primarily the hallway of never ending fireballs that's there for no apparent reason) I would think the castle is abandoned but there's a RECENT portrait of sanctus in the main hall so it clearly can't be THAT abandoned because someone had to put that there

DMC takes place in a version of our world, just with demons invading. The beginning of the games take place in an unnamed city where Dante lives. So Fortuna is just a small country that exists somewhere in the world.

Since Fortuna is a made up place run by the bad guys of 4's story, most of your question is just explained by Nero and Dante wandering around their hideouts.

No no no. Don't excuse "giant fireball constantly being shot" with "hideout" In all every other game it's a secluded area. The first cutscenes of 1 and 3 are in cities until being moved to a totally desolate area. FORTUNA tho, again people have to live there. So how in God's name are you meant to explain a giant fireball hallway next to the DINING room. Not even separated by a door. They have church in the same vicinity and an item called "EVIL LEGACY" how is any of this explained to the average civilian? Even dmc5 is in a demon tower again. But this is just a city

they are villians with good publicity. they ran Fortuna till the events of 4. So after Dante shot Sanctus, you don't think they would switch on the booby traps in case Dante has allies?
