Far too Mutilated to be called "REBOOT"

Unfortunately, The new Devil May Cry game, is an unfortunate by-product of a letting a someone write a fanfic of the game. Only written by someone with no writing experience in their entire life. Ninja Theory, is renowned for getting a hold of a game and completely destroying it. Making it far to disgusting to even think of a new game.

Capcom, should have learned from the first time they have made such a severe mistake like this, which in turn produced Devil May Cry 2. If you want to find a true and proper "Reboot" turn to the Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. That is what is called a reboot. DmC is a grotesque mutilation of the actual game series... Yeah sure... there will always be people who will buy the game, and play it. but you know what, when Ninja Theory cannot catch a hint, on why the Devil May Cry fan base is so absolutely furious, and has to defend themselves with the whole "Don't dog it until you try it" act.

It should be a red flag in the first place, that they are turning Dante, into a crackpot, emotional, bratty child. whom by the way is, a combination of devil and angel, not devil and human(they've declared him a fallen angel by the way) who is also on the run from the human government, on charges of slaughtering humans(yeah thats right, they turned Dante into a mass murderer)

taking, a iconic character, that revolutionized the way we looked at demons, a mercenary. is an insult to everybody who loves the great hero.

bottom line, Ninja Theory is removing everything that made Devil May Cry, and turning it into some stupid concept that targets the tools and asinine jerks.

Lol.. Also, we now have robotic kinda demons. Who knows? We might see a few hundreds of T-1000 with laser guns to kill Dante at the end of the game :D

Concerning the story part:

We know absolutely nothing about the story. It's unfair of you to condemn it before knowing that;)

As to the part that says "they changed the whole concept of Devil May Cry" no, not really. It's still a guy fighting demons. It didn't have any major storyline before. Each game was a different mission Dante had. DMC3 tried to strike a connection with the first game, but apparently it was the only attempt since DMC1 pretty much is a complete story by itself. Vergil dies, Mundus is defeated and sealed for about 100 years again, Dante got the powers of Sparda, and no one was a match for him from then on. Difficult to strike a story from that point.

Dante being a crackpot, etc etc. Again, we do not know his character. Judging someone from his/her appearance only is rather shallow, don't you agree;) And to their defense, NT has already said that in their original plan, the new Dante wasn't so different from the one we know, but Capcom insisted on giving him a completely new image.

And blaming only NT is kinda half-fair. It's Capcom who wanted this. For all we know if Capcom had asked collaboration from someone else we could be throwing death threats to them now. So in a way it's Capcoms fault.

To end this, I still prefer the old Dante and all, but why should we not give the new guy a chance too? He may not look as awesome as the new Dante, but we are comparing them because we KNOW the old Dante. When we we actually get to know the new guy, then we should be able to judge better;)

Um....how many times are we going to have to sit and read the EXACT same conversation and points? as new things come out, people who like the game find new things to like, but people who dislike the game keep saying the same thing over and over. We get it! Why does every thread in this section of the forum have to be the exact same thing? Why are there so many threads ABOUT the same thing? Isn't there something better you can be doing?

-----EDIT------
By the way, it's rather immature of you to call me asinine and a jerk because I like A GAME!

I agree with GGC.
I used to be moaned at for not liking it (bitching i think it was called)... what now i'm going to get the same treatment as everyone else who likes it.

When this game comes out, no one is gonna force you to buy it or play it.
This reboot is happening it should've sunk in by now. Perhaps some people wanna remove their heads from their a$$e$ and realise they can do nothing about it

@Quentarus

I'm CoolDemon. I am a guy who dislikes Ninja theory. In beginning i did not know they existed, until DmC project started.

Ninja theory have supposedly made "old Dante" designs, and we have been told Capcom was one who said "Change Dante completely". So it's not right to say "Ninja theory messed him up!". I am skeptical to "old Dante designs", but with that in mind we can't go around jumping to conclusions. Capcom ruined Dante not Ninja theory. The only mistake that Ninja theory could possibly have done is making a character that elvolves around Ninja theory circle and nationality.

I agree with you DmC is not a appropriate game to call a reboot. Capcom did say "We want 5M!", and they have gone back and forth about DmC. Capcom and Ninja theory have talked about DmC's Dante as if it's original Dante, which it is not. This we can see when Tameem tries to explain why DmC Dante is way he is by saying "There is a reason why things are like they are, and it will be explained". If it's a reboot we don't need any explanation. And if Tameem feels that he needs to explain himself about DmC Dante then he is making DmC look less like a reboot.

VERY IMPORTANT: When Hideki Kamiya and others were making Devil May Cry (originally intended a RE sequel) they were PAID by Capcom to create a game. This makes Capcom the rightful owner of DMC and it's character. But it does not mean you have to accept a complete different character as Dante. Only license that Capcom has is argument that people uses to say "This is Dante". If license has SUCH true value then how come you can't make a 100% different character and game and call it the same as a previous one for marketing reasons? ANSWER: They can't bend people's picture of a character or a game, and so license has little value.

You don't have to like DmC, infact i find it mediocre gameplay wise, little appealing character wise and much more. But Capcom rightfully owns the game and because of that we have no right to protest against what they do with DMC.

There are many cool people on this forum (mods and admins) who don't like arguments, and i advice you to let go of DMC serie and Dante. If Capcom can't realize what they have done then Dante can die in peace :)
In mean time just watch how DmC goes. I am curious how the story will be because EVERYONE who's a fan of Ninja theory keeps bragging of their story skills. So i will watch on Youtube.

This. That's how I accepted it...
btw, I'm not a fane of NT either. I wasn't impressed with Heavenly sword or Enslaved.

Devil may cry (series) is in the Guiness world records (gaming) for best selling hack n' slash series (2 years running). Vergil wanted more power... Capcom wanted more money ;)

I will just judge them based on story. One can cleary see in DMC 1- 4 that Capcom knows gameplay. So it's more likely Capcom made DmC gameplay what it is. "Intense collaboration".

And story is the biggest reason NT was hired. Time to impress me. Though it looks bad - they seem to be copying "They Live" by John Carpenter. And if your gonna make another copy story then i will say "You joking with me? Your great at stories and this is it?".

Great story making takes tons of time. How do i know this? Just like a road with tons cars driving on it, there are tons of ideas "driving" in my head. I destroy those ones that are "Copy" and keep ones that are original or "COOL!".

Example copying a other game is not cool.

Never heard of that film... i'll go and look that one up
Berto shared it with me. I love Berto :) And the movie is really nice. Youtube it!
And when you do then compare the DmC extended trailer to "They Live" movie.

In movie the main character goes through a revelation with glasses showing the truth. People are not what they seem to be. In DmC trailer we see demons standing inside Carnival game desks suggesting they are in disguise.

Well, i've just been reading about it, and i can see the comparisons
What makes me very positive around 99,9%:
1) The fact demons are in a disguise. In They Live "people" were sending signals through a transmittor that affected real people's brain so that they saw a illusion instead of the true form of the "people".
And in DmC we see "cameras" and like i mentioned demons seems to be in diguise. Dante "There are demons everywhere in every corners of society".

2) "Gluttony is good", "Consume", these are very similar lines to "They Live" movie.

WATCH !

The Quentauros are just expressing their opinion , there's nothing wrong with that , it is normal to have people who dislike the game . I just don't like his have called who are enjoying the game are jerks, that's a little disrespectful :/

CoolDemon , the movie you're talking about is this?

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9005367754264973286

I watched it yesterday , some things really are very similar with DmC.

could be Easter Eggs towards They Live, but since it's a matter of perception, I respect your opinion on the matter. CoolDemon, you know I am one who never agrees with you, but in this thread, you show a lot of maturity and insight. I respect you for this and for your first post, I agree with you.

Yes, that's the movie. Nothing wrong with expressing opinion just giving advice to Quen because the "DmC isn't so cool" has been discuessed so intense by me that i have gotten TWO warnings.
However, if someone told me from beginning that Capcom rightfully owned the game i might not have two warnings now :p It changed my view of things COMPLETELY.

I try to. So thanks!

I really enjoyed "they live" I was a huge rowdey piper fan and the movie for me had a parallel universe with aliens and government. When I saw the messages appear on DmC I was excited that they used similar techniques to poryray the demon world. Its a good source to to use and many people dont know about it, a nice easter egg.
There arent many original ideas in gaming anymore and thete are far too many sequels. And for a game designer you need to draw inspiration from somewhere and movies are a usual source to draw from.

On topic.
If your going to insult people by name calling, have the b***s to use your real name.
