Do You think there will be any styles if any at all?

Do you guys think that the game will have styles like swordmaster, gunslinger, quicksilver, royal guard, doppleganger, and trickster?

Or do you think they will have some new styles included? what are your ideas?

Is it likely that the game will have no styles?

Finally, what ever happened to wall run from devil may cry 2 and 3 :/ was it really that useless? i mean i used to love running on walls that was pretty fun... do you guys think this will be implemented .

Its highly unlikly we'll be seeing any styles, sadly. :(
Styles were an exclusive to DMC4 Dante, and having it return in DmC would be.... surprisingly pleasent........

by the way, welcome to the forums! :D

Hve you seen any trailers of the game so far?
Styles have been replaced by "stances". You've got two (well, three, technically) different Stances: Angel and Demon.
The Stances have some Style-moves from previous DMCs incorporated, yet there are also some new moves and some old ones have supposedly been taken out.

Well that sucks, that sucks hard. Get rid of one the biggest innovations in the series, and replace it with something that has to do with the story. Really people?

Bayonetta had almost all of the skills Dante had and no styles.
You can just purchase the skills needed. You learn a button combination and use them without having to switch styles.
I'm sure DmC will go the same way. It's just that skills associated with styles will all either be in the Angel or Devil stance.

Having 'styles' was simply a way to make up for the limitations of the button set up and limited move set. Because of the way the controls had been set up, there was no other way to incorporate the entire move set without running out of button options, so you have to switch to an entirely new button set just to include the ability to perform special moves. They called these 'styles' but truthfully, all it changed, usually, was the function of the single button special move you perform. (of course certain styles added things like wall running which should have been possible in any style since it does not require a button press to activate) On top of all that, weapon choices were limited to ease the weapon selection process and allow quicker weapon switching on the fly. Styles are an inefficient way of control set up.

With the new control set up it will be possible to perform moves simply by holding the trigger button indicating the type of power the move is associated with. Jumping while firing your guns in angel performs a rinsing rainstorm, jumping while pressing demon performing a traditional rainstorm. Standing and firing in angel performs twosome time while demon performs a charged shot in human form the guns fire normally. Six different functions easily accessible and added without having to take your thumb away from the controls to switch styles on the d-pad or even take your thumb off the action button or. joystick. If royal guard is added, it could be a single button block in demon form like the in Ninja Gaiden. (except holding it down won't keep blocking.) pressing the same button while in angel form performs a dodge.

This form-based system also affects weapon changes. There are four different weapons, each have three different forms . This increases the number of weapons Dante can carry to twelve. By pressing a button on the d-pad a base weapon is selected (rebellion) the weapons form is selected by the power you are using, demon, angel. (Axe, Scythe) If a weapon is selected while already in a form, it will already appear in the transformed state associated with that form. So, for instance, up gets you Rebellion and left or right trigger gets you either it's angel form or demonic form. This way makes it possible to switch instantly to one preferred weapon, out of a whopping twelve, with a single button press, if it's a base weapon, and trigger squeeze, if it's a form one.

Every iteration of Devil may cry brought innovations to it's game play or system, this is Ninja Theory's contribution to the franchise, an advanced, condensed, efficient control system. Where all moves weapons and actions are accessible with the press of a button.

In conclusion... F#ck Styles.

Though Devil May Cry 3 is my favourite of them all, I think it would be cool if Dante got all the moves up his sleeve without having to change styles. I like what was said above about Bayonetta just purchasing her skills and then use them. I would like to see something like that with the new Devil May Cry as well.

I like the Stances idea, it could bring up some awesome combo ideas in the game, like switching styles on the fly in DMC4.

^^ There was a skill shop in DMC and a leveling up system.

Everything Tiran said, to me, was spot on. DMC4's style system was nothing compared to DMC3's. It was just more appropriate and not as overwhelming. Sure u could master it, but the simplicity of DMC3 is what made it so great because it was easy to use for newbies and for vets, the innovations never stop. DMC4's style were completely complicated if you were new. I guess thats why they had Nero. But high level combos and becoming basically invincible was something DMC4 gave to dedicated fans of the series.
I still cannot use more than 3 stances in DMC4, and i hate taking my hand off the left stick to press a single button. DmC seems like the combos will never end, even for new players of the series, but for returning vets, the idea of having 12 weapons to choose from at any given time..... mind blowing. There will be youtube videos everywhere and none of them will look alike.

So having a different variety in ways of fighting then doesn't matter... fair enough.
Personally, I couldn't care. I've only had one favorite style ever and that was Vergil's Darkslayer.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "f**k 'em", but what's the point of five or six stances if this game will let us use Dante's various skills with only two?

For example:
He's got Trickster's Air Dash, Swordmaster's Shredder and Drive, and he has a version of rainstorm.
While only using two stances.

Other than for nostalgic value, I can't see why they'd need to put styles in.

Even though styles are cool,it would be better if he got all the moves.
So moves of gunslinger won't be useless. Most DMC players use Sword master, trickster and royal guard anyway.

I'd think they wouldn't include styles, I mean, in the first two games they didn't then in 3 they did, and 4? Well don't even get mestarted, although I think they should bring them back, and add in something new like how quicksilver was added...

I hated Styles from DMC and the Stances in Heavenly Sword didn't catch on to me, so I would prefer it if they left those two things out as a whole.

styles is what gave a large variety to the combat of dmc i loved them and mastered them all i found it more fun in dmc 3 and when i played dmc 4 with nero without styles the game felt like it was missing something but when played as dante that feeling went away but still the style system was most awesome in 3 and seeing that there are none in DmC im dissapointed :(
