I think they've become a bit overdone but I've still found certain games that I can enjoy them in. For example I think games like God of War and No More Heroes manage to put it in a context where it becomes more immersive. On the other hand uses in games such as RE4 where you have to mash B till your thumb comes off is kind of frustrating.
