To me, it looks a bit cel-shaded, not just the textures and lighting, but even models looked differently, I wonder why.they have changed it. Can't tell if it was for the worse or better... don't get me wrong, the current graphics are also great, but before there was no annoying HUGE amount of FOG raping eyes.
Anyone noticed this as well?
I guess they did cause consoles couldn't handle it to render at 30fps, LOL, wish the PC version looked as crisp as these alpha/beta shots :(

I really like the red border on his coat. Makes Dante look more vibrant. I wonder why they got rid of it.

Ha ha, if only the whole game looked like these mock shots... Don't get me wrong, I think the graphics are awesome. But this is just somethin' else.

Maybe someone will be able to mod the dirt out of the PC version and we'll have this IQ? If you look at the pier footage of the PC version the image quality is alraedy top notch, it's incredible.

But if you look at the images, the only differences I can see are the scythe trails and Dantes coat. However, these images also don't have a filter on them. DmC has filters on each of the stages. The Demo has a cyan top with a gain filter, stronger lighting effects and a much bright bloom on the environment. If you put those on these images it would look like what the final version looks like.

Yeah, I don't think they're bullshots. You can just look at The Fight and The Escape gameplay videos and you'll get that much clearer image quality. There will be worse textures and modelling, but it's still prettier because it's not so full of stuff.

Thanks god for modders, if I play the game, then without weird effects on screen... they aren't needed on PC
do the modders get a say in this or is it YOU CAN PROGRAM. YOU HAVE A COPY OF DmC MAKE ME 10 TIMES BETTER GRAPHICS AND SEVENTYTHOUSAND NEW MISSION AND 90000 NEW ENEMYS MWHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The picture you sent is pilot scenes. Those are temp. polishings. Its a vision for the game while everything is just 3d models.
And FOG thing actually makes it harder to handle for consoles or pc. So your statement is completely false.

The way they added the FOG is because they wanted to make you realize you are in Limbo.
Just like The Matrix movie; while they are in Matrix everything has a GREEN tone, but the real world is standart.

So many unnecessary topics going around here

The fog is used to mask low quality textures, and loss of detail in the background over distance along with texture popping, but thanks for enlightening me.

It's also used to make sure the PS3 version sucks even more.

No sir, the fog cant be used to mask low q textures, that fog you are talking about is in Limbo stance.

The close up effects you see in the Under Watch level (the ash and whatnot) is done strictly to make the environment look more alive, constantly moving, and interesting. It has nothing to do with "hiding" lack of texture... because you can still see everything clearly with, or without it.

The far away fog, yes, that is done to avoid seeing pop ups and texture rendering. Consoles aren't usually able to handle too much of that. But then again, 99.9% of video games do this... consoles still cannot handle some of these things.

If someone can make a mod for the PC that gets rid of this fog and makes all textures pop out really neat in the background then... cool.

I just gotta say, I'm playing the PS3 demo right now and I'm not really seeing the bit of fog in the game cover up anything in the distance. I can still see stuff pretty far away...

It's not even a consistent fog either, it's always flowing thicker and lighter at different points. It really seems like it's just for aesthetic, and not to hide pop-up >.>
