I disagree with the idea of making Arkham Kat's dad because that just ties her to closely to Lady and defeats the purpose of making her a new character so just create a new character to be her dad rather than use a old one.

Make the story have less plot holes? (every story will at least have a few of them, but DmC 2 should explain every story element what wasn't in the first one)

Good point. Don't wanna lose Kat though.
Here are my facts though....
- 5 years after Limbo and the real world have merged. Demon finally shown themselves and humans start to involve themselves in the war for their souls between angel and demon.
- Dante builds the "Devil May Cry" shop from his old home with Kat's help and some friends Dante made from an old orphanage.
- Lady & Arkham appear.
- Angels seek to destroy both Vergil and Dante since they are nephilim. Eva's father, Dante's grandfather, holds a grudge on Sparda for marrying his daughter, and Dante for being born from Eva and his father. However, one of the angels, an old friend of Eva's named Azrael offers his help to Dante to prove to his kind that despite being a nephilim, he has his mother's heart and wisdom within and that he can be a grateful ally.
- Vergil takes up the name Nelo Angelo and seeks to rule mankind and defeat Dante for not joining his side.
- Both Azrael and Phineas help Dante unlock his true potential as a nephilim. In order to complete, he needs to trigger the angel within him.
- During his adventures, Dante learns that his father was a legend in several countries for the good deeds he's done.

Not every plot hole since you still want it to be a story. You could have most of it answered in optional secret files.
cool ideas
i would recommend not making Eva's family the enemy tho because that would just feel like a repeat. Maybe making them a reluctant foe who Dante redeems by the end could be cool.

Then make Eva's side of the family not his main enemy but an enemy that has doubts about the twins.

dante develops his powers and taps more into his angel side. He learns to teleport and can angel trigger ,vergil gains power in hell opens a new hellgate and tries to conquer so dante fights his way through generals and it finishes with a fight to the death between brothers

-3 Year time skip.
-Dante's been forming his demon hunter group.
-Vergil's gathering his demon hordes in preparation to attack Dante and earth.
-Dante's main goal during the game is to build an army strong enough to take on Vergil's.
-The angels are out to get Dante/Vergil creating some scenes where they co-operate.
-Dante seeks the help of the Angels but must defeat them to earn their respect.

I'm not sure Eva should have a family tho since I'd imagine Angels not having family units, being more of a collective. An extreme version of "it takes a village to raise a child" if you will.
I wouldn't mind a Vergil based sequel with Vergil in hell trying to free his dad and take over Hell. That'd be sweet.

dante is now seen as earth's protector, but then it is hinted that sparda is still alive. so with the off chance that he is alive, he goes into hell to see if he's still there. he's dead. and dante fights his way back to earth and it takes him 5 years to do so. after that, the world has moved on without him. kat is married with a kid, demons and humans co-exist, and vergil is locked away. vergil breaks free from prison and steals an artifact. vergil kidnaps kat and her son and takes them to a strange fortress. vergil finds out and kills kat and uses her soul to power himself even further. dante reaches the fortress and has to face an op vergil. dante finds a way to rescue his son and free kat's soul but martyrs himself in the process. dante's son grows up to be a depressed teen and kills himself

During his struggling fight against both demons and angels, Dante enters hell to search for his father, Sparda.
But it turns out, after the destruction of Mundus, Sparda somehow was able to escape. Knowing his father is still alive and that he was able to return to the human world again, Dante continues to fight evil for humanity and with the angels guiding him.

I wouldnt mind doing a game with Nero tho.
Seeing if Reboot Nero can avoid the problems Classic Nero fell in.

Save Nero until DmC3. If they rewrite him, he can be an experiment who escaped from the Order of the Sword. Kinda like Jared Nomack from Blade.

itd be funny if the game starts out with his kid in hell after he becomes a demon like SMT 3.
good idea but im not sure he should be a experiment because that feel like a repeat of Dante's past
I think the main problem with Nero was that he just seen as just a young Dante in the old franchise so thats the baggage we got if we gonna reboot him.

nero could play a half devil or devil hunter but without kyrie and he would need different powers as he wouldnt have yamato or the db

he would need a new sword too as red queen is from the alternate DMC as is blue rose. Maybe a broad sword and a magnum

That could work.
As for the Order of the Sword. If they were to appear in DmC3, they would be disguised as an organization of good, like the church in DMC4, but in secret, they had a lab trying to replicate the DNA of Dante and Vergil to create their own nephilim.
Plus... I know Nephilim are normally angel & human hybrid. But if they revealed that there are a variety of nephlim, not just angel-human hybrids but angel-demon hybrids also.

nero and dante could fight to test each other dante would win spare him then question him and then they could team up with nero getting his own missions or dlc

And remember how Dante obtained the ophion whip, angel jump & the devil trigger?
What will the dream plane in the 2nd game look like? Perhaps Sparda can appear when Dante obtains the angel trigger and unlocks the full power of the nephilim in him?
