DmC Japan sales numbers

The US sales might be pretty bad. DmC the last time I checked(2 days ago) was like #84 in the top sellers for video games on Amazon. That is very bad and a signal of a game not doing so well in sales. DMCHD was like in the top 20's for some odd reason. Its not a good sign at all. These are the sales for Japan for the entire DMC series of first week sales and the sales after the first week.http.i5.minus.com/iXEp1Da1tNbdD.png

Also, I've read that DmC sold 1/3 of the sales that DMC4 sold in the UK in its first week. I'll post the link after I find it again.

That's subjective. While DmC had a better story (which was pretty mediocre and it is not hard to beat DMC4s story) DMC4 obviously have the better combat, which have always been the main strength to the DMC serie.

Still, DMC4 is not as good as DMC3.
Too bad Capcom was too greedy and they pushed dmc4 to release while scrapping arround half of game content. Still i think DMC4 is overall game better than reboot.

Ugh, please don't remind me. DMC4 could have been such better game if it wasn't for Capcom.

It's a real shame that the game had such good core combat but so many other things that brought it down. Sucks that an awesome franchise like DMC is held by what has become such a lackluster developer.

People really need to get over the whole sales comparison thing, it's not a fair argument. It's like saying Beyonce's next album only sold 3million copies so it's a failure compared to Michael Jackson's Thriller. When dmc4 came out it had the good will of dmc3 to boost it's sales and the very important fact that it was still the only game of it's kind pretty much. People who wanted to play stylish action had little options, today is a much different story and a much different market than that time. The Japanese gaming market is getter smaller and smaller and more handheld focused and more casual which is why every major developer over there is looking to the west. Hell, Square Enix would not exist if it were not for Deus Ex and Batman.

DMC will simply never ever sell as well as it used to, no matter how good the game is. It's already a sub section of another genre that is being rapidly occupied these days so it's not a valid comparison. I dont want to seem like a blind supporter but I do think this is simply the way things are in the current gaming market.

Maybe in some aspects, but from what I have gathered from fans and the game alike, the gameplay in DMC4 is believed to be superior even amongst some of the most loyal of supporters.

Yeah, I gotta agree.

DMC4's story was bullshit, but its gameplay was good. Better then DmC's gameplay.

It was more the push for multiplat that cut the game in half.
In terms of any problems or any effect it had in the development of the game, we initially didn't have a schedule for releasing it on two platforms simultaneously, so that did have an affect on the amount of work that we had to do.

Because we developed it on the same engine -- on the MT Framework -- it wasn't double the work that we had to do, but it probably required about 1.5 times the work and 1.5 times the ability in order to be able to get everything done. There were some changes we had to make, and some extra work that we had to put into it.

I hate how people keep wanting to compare it to DMC 4 for which absolutely terrible. DmC is obviously better.

Story time for the hell of it, gather around kiddies.

I remember being in a conversation a while back in the uncomfortable company of an anime fanatic who was so against DmC in a book store and saying this was disrespecting Japan and that no one in Japan likes the western influences. Talk about an obnoxious motherfucker who knew nothing of what he was talking about. My friends from Japan was conveniently available this time where he showed up and hilarity ensued.

I remember him turning around to the dude and basically saying stuff like, " F*ck your anime bullshit and you know nothing of my people. I have never seen anyone with the gaudy sense of cool someone like Dante has and no one I know acts like Dante. Come to my country thinking you can fit in with that attitude will make me personally chop you to pieces with my samurai sword." He then insulted him in japanese and the guy had like nothing to say. So funny.
SLOW BURN.

dat ahegao on your icon tho

As i always say sales DO NOT decide the game's quality !!

The game can be good but it sales can be as cheap as an NFL game...

I think DMC4 being half a game had more to do with lazy game design and Dante being pushed in at the last moment than going multiplatform. Capcom likely planned for this to be multiplatform for a while, possibly from the games inception as tends to be the case.
