DMC Freezing Mid-play

I've got DMC3 for PS2 and it keeps freezing on me mid-play. Any ideas?
It's a real pain when I'm in the middle of a mission and have to restart because it's frozen.

Is your game an original or a copy? Try taking it to your local movie store and unscratch it or just copy it if you have a chip.

It's probably just scratched, as mentioned above some shops can clean discs. Or if it's the original buy special edition ^_^.
