DmC Devil May Cry Demo Review (PS3)

I like those designs, especially bringing in street artists to make it look more authentic. Nothing is more head-shaking in a game than just seeing random graffiti on walls that's supposed to show how "urban" it is. Street artists know just a bit more of where it's best to put their art >_<

Haha. :P My Dad used to be a graffiti styled artist when he was younger. However he does engineering work these days now. But I always found graffiti art to be really cool.

For gameplay, I'd say just keep on playing, learn the intricacies. It's not the same as the old DMCs, but I can feel the spirit is there, and I still love it :x

Yeah I'm just gonna keep playing DmC until I find something that's extremely broken to a point where I stop playing the demo and just wait for the final release. Chances are, I won't buy the game on the release day since it's a lot of money to me. Most likely I'll buy it later on when the price drops for it, or buy it used.

I'm sure more mechanics will be found when the actual game will come out. Like using the shotgun to setup for a combo (I like the idea that enemies pop up from the shotgun blast now).

I thought the graphics were actually really nice. The biggest surprise was just how much better they were than DMC 4's, and yet both games are on the same console.

I love the difficulty for DmC. People keep saying it's too easy, but I dunno... It totally feels like DMC1's difficulty.

I'm mainly a fan of DMC1, I beat it on every difficulty, got all the trophies, and beat it several times afterwards... not to mention the dozens of times I beat it on the PS2. DMC3 however, I wasn't a fan of. It was amazing on the PS2 since I could just use cheats to unlock Super Dante, but playing it on the PS3 with it's ridiculous difficulty just killed the game for me. I only beat it once, and it took me over a month to beat it since I got so annoyed and bored by it.

So far, I'm loving the gameplay. There's so much variety to it... even playing it like DMC1 and staying on the ground has it's advantages. It's really easy to dodge attacks by doing this. Likewise, slashing at enemies from the top of the level is also a good tactic if there aren't any flying enemies to bug you.
My main complaint about the gameplay is the DT. It's just not fun to use... I loved DMC1 because I had a habit of using DT in short bursts to finish off enemies quickly. In DmC I just find it annoying, I don't want enemies to be flung up into the air for me, I don't want it to take a long time to recharge, and I don't want it to be used up in a few seconds... Right now, the DT is just a desperation move, which to me is a bad thing. I want it to compliment the gameplay, not be a side dish to it.

Nowhere near as much as DmC but yeah, a bit. Like... when you had those disappearing platforms or the spinning blades part. They figured the horrible camera was too frustrating to add more in-depth platforming.

Wat? DmC has the same platforming mechanics as DMC 4. Devil bringer has been replaced with angel and demon pull which functions the same way as DB , nothing worth call it "enhanced platforming". And there is the air dash, which we already have with trickster. Except it was not used as a platforming element in previous games but still does not make it enhanced platforming.

DMC4 had platforming...?

2:07 to 2:15 shows wat platforming is in a DMC game.

Its jus not explicitly mentioned through hints in the game but still was there. We were left to figure it out.

Please tell me wat platforming is if it were not used for navigation through the game as DMC 4 did using the devil bringer. And DMC 4 had more navigation than previous games.

Here is wiki on platforming:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platform_game

How did you miss these in DMC 4 and not call it platforming?

Secret mission 7 - Free running.

Secret mission 5 - Sky scraper

And not jus secret missions.

6:15 to 6:30

DMC 4 had platforming but not as much as other platforming based games like prince of persia. But still emphasized more than previous DMC games. I would even say that most of nero's missions were plat-form based than combat-based as to be lock downed where we need to defeat all enemies to break the seal. And the enemies were hardly any challenge unlike DMC 3.Heck, even dante's missions were. I mean the saviour battle(dante) was combat but still involved plat-forming and navigation to desired platforms since the saviour would break down a platform if we stayed longer on one.

And from wat i have seen in DmC, I don't find any new platforming mechanics that we have not already known.

Also, I don't think platforming , in DMC, is jus about using dedicated platform mechanics to reach the destination but is also about collecting items using non-platforming mechanics as revving up red queen and high roller our way up, using calibur or air roulette spin. And then there are secret missions i mentioned before which are all about platforming. They all collectively contribute to platforming than jus those that get across the story of the game.

I'd say DmC greatly enhanced the platforming, because they gave us a Mario-style jump to use, instead of the commitment-based jump in the classics. That makes all the difference, which I can vouch for having grown up on platformers in the 80s; DmC has a lot more platforming, and with how Limbo works, it helps to have more control over the jump as things can constantly move around, and you might be rushed.

It's like...try doing the God Cube Chamber Secret Mission, but with the threat of death looming after a period of time, or if you fail too many times.
