DmC Captivate Podcast

If I remember correctly, you already got a girlfriend. So how are you going to explain that to her?
First: I am weirded out that you remembered that. :D
Second: She didn't answer to my proposal yet, so I'll see about that. Until then I'll stock up on handcuffs, whips and barbed wire. :D
No, I'm kidding, but did anyone ask his local gamestop about it? I'd like to know how much there is to that statement.
Seriously, release in July would be awesome, though summer doesn't seem a clever time to release a game, right?

Still a lot of complaints about the game. Why? The game doesn't seem dumbed down at all.

i know right? i mean if what they say in the pod cast is true then theyve gone through every animation frame by frame and have literally incorporated 2 years worth of work into the fighting mechanics alone with actual swords (LOL). NO MATTER what this has shaped up to be an awesome game and i think more fans should be willing to give it a chance (if not desperately refreshing the news feed for a release date like yours truly :D ).

A lot of the complaints are only skin deep and now that the combat system seem accessible and deep, people think its too slow, but when I see it it looks like it gives player's more freedom to choose multiple combos. Crowd control was only done well in dmc4 on the PC with Turbo, now in DmC, crowd control and juggling 3 demons at once and possibly more makes this game a very strategic hack and slash.

Anyone else think that the stinger is now just trillion stab? I've yet to see the standard stinger.

If you have to put the left stick towards the enemy and hold Y to do the stinger, maybe if you keep it hold you'll get trillion stab, but if you release it before the impact or at least at the first active frames you'll get the stinger. If it's that complicated it's no surprise that people won't be able to pull it out in their first time playing a few minutes demo.

i agree, alot of people are saying the game is slower than the past dmc games, but if you really think about it it's not and in fact it might end up being faster in some aspects. now i will admit that when i saw the first gameplay trailer at e3, yes even i thought it looked slower than past dmcs, but now that the actual combat system has been shown and updated i think that no longer.
in fact, to help further my point let's take a look at something:
most people are saying "D*C (i don't know why they put the * in the middle) is nowhere near as fast as previous devil may cry games" oh really? let's look at DmC compared to dmc1 and dmc2 shall we?
Devil May Cry:

compared to DmC:

okay now DMC2 compared to DmC.
DMC2:

DmC:

i think it's safe to say that DmC is already faster than two of the four devil may cry games. now i know when alot of people are comparing speeds they are comparing DmC with devil may cry 3 and devil may cry 4; however, when most people do compare gameplay they compare this:
or

to this:

when in actuality they should be comparing this:

and

to this:

i hope this paints a more clear picture for those who keep comparing crazy gameplay videos of a completed game played by devil may cry veterans to a demo version of a game that a person is playing for the first time.

I forgot to mention something important from the podcast:
There are evidently lots of references to the storyline to be found in all the Captivate footage.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that since the world is bland and muted, everything demon-related is a bright, vibrant color. Case in point, the Virility and Raptor News logos.

ahhhh that makes sense, it really makes the demonic things stick out. i didn't realize that. :)

I just think true style champions are ****ed that noobs can pull off crazy combos that are just like the ones they made in past dmc games. so Whats stopping them from doing it with DmC?
IS it dante? or maybe the story? Well whatever it is, i still hope there are true style champs for this game because i know i wont be jump canceling at all on my first play through, well maybe mess around with it but i've never needed it before like i never needed Royal Guard.
And since there is jump canceling in DmC there will be 25 helm breakers in a row, followed by some of the most insane **** i've ever seen. When i first saw a truestyle combo vid, i almost lost my mind. But after i've seen far too many, they all look the same to me. Whats so stylish about going bat **** on a low level demon? i'll never know. I guess i just play DMC differently than other people......:ermm:

The virility drink, i think is connected to the giant coach lobster demon thing, because the voice at the beginning of the playthrough says Kat will lead dante to the virility factory and then go underground. And maybe underground is the huge sewer area, leading to the boss fight.

ahhhh that makes sense, it really makes the demonic things stick out. i didn't realize that. :)
Not exactly. The dark bland color are opressive, downer, in the dark, implying that it is 'the lie.' Limbo will likely be in bright color to represent the truth, the light.

Thanks, I didnt get too listen to it yet.

on the complaints department, the only way to tell if the gameplay complaints are accurate is to for us play the game itself.

Observing it from footage is folly as we dont have access to it ourselves.

Story is easier as you just need to watch it.
