It isn't a continuation of the original series, but that doesn't make it any less a Devil May Cry game.
I see... But it's still a DMC game? Even though it's not a continuation? So... How do you figure?

A Devil May Cry game. Not DMC which is what is used to describe the original series while DmC is to describe the new one. Looking away from the shallow surface stuff, such as Dante's haircolour and the shape of Rebellion, it still has ALOT of the things in it that makes it a Devil May Cry game. Gameplay elements, story elements (from the few we know), character names (Dante and Sparda) are things that makes it a Devil May Cry game. Some people see it as a whole other game, but I don't. I accept this as a Devil May Cry game and as the possible future of the franchise.

Megaman.EXE is still a Megaman game even if it isn't part of the original series.
Street Fighter EX series are still Street Fighter games even if it isn't part of the main series.
The Resident Evil movies are still Resident Evil even if they aren't coherent with the games.

That's my opinion, based on the facts we have been given so far, and I know many would disagree with me, but that doesn't change anything. There are people who won't accept Devil May Cry 2 as part of the franchise, simply just pretending it doesn't exist. They can pretend all they want, it doesn't change the facts.

Edit: An error appeared on my screen, something about "server time expired", so it double-posted.

Hey, if this game does well, I have the feeling that NT won't be making a sequel.

Since the hired NT because of their story telling skills i doubt they would have someone else make the sequel since they have a unique way of doing it. Unless NT goes under disappears altogether.

Why do people alwas go 2 the hair color, people hate Nero because he's a cry baby the 1st dante they showed us look like he had not eat in years and looks like he what's 2 cut himself and cry, Dante is badazz and need 2 look badazz.Hes alot better now, gameplay look's like dmc but so far see nothing new each dmc take's combat 2 the next lvl looking like old Dmc combat is not the best combat now in 2012, we do not the story and what we do know is not DMC , angle and a demon WTF but I still have hope in this game because I love DMC but puting a name on a bad movie like Resident Evil or a game that has nothing 2 do with the others is a way they try 2 make money on the name alot of people know Capcom does not care about the fan's and and if the game does not sell in the millions knowing Capcom this game will not have a future.

^Learn too use periods in your pharagraph.Devil may cry 3's combat is still way better than ninja gaiden 3,god of war 3 and especially Devil may cry 4's.It's combat is one of a kind that it can still stand to the new generaiton hack annd slash.

LMAO if it's not a paper 4 school so I don't care, but DMC 3 combat is better then's dmc combat and that's the problem like I said each DMC combat take's it 2 the next lvl except dmc. Bayonetta is on top now no game so far can come close 2 it and that's fact.

yes but we want to be able to read what you write so please use them.

on topic-
I'm not really a fan of the idea of having two DMC's as i rather just have one DMC that the companies are devoting their time too than two. Plus there are other games in their library that i rather see get a second chance than having a second DMC series fill up that slot.

Sure that the new Dante looks great and i cant wait for the game. But DMC4 left so many understatement... whole that story was great... They need to make DMC5 :D

Now you're overestimating the story of DMC4, Capcom just needed an excuse to make a little bit more "easy" character for DMC newcomers. They made you repeat every boss in the game for 3 times except Dante, Sanctus and Credo ( Agnus 4 times if you count the glass wall ). They make you run to the Castle with Nero and all the way back to the beginning with Dante.
I think that when DMC4 was being made Capcom had an enormous pressure to make a new DMC game but not enough inspiration for the story. So they throw in a new character, (Nero) to compensate the lack of inspiration and throw Dante in on the last minute to give the game it's name.

So what could they make the DMC5 story about? Nero's hand? This isn't freaking MGS ! ;)

On the other hand there's the DmC way which seems much more solid. Now we have much more detailed story on our hands. Now the biggest question for me is do they leave the mission chapters or is it going to be like GOW? Personally I think that chapters weren't that good in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and are somewhat relics of the past.
The angel/demon thing is basically the same in LoS and even in Dante's Inferno, NT is just taking it a few steps further...

PS. Kung Fu Chaos was great !

I agree with You that the idea of backtracking all game after 11 chapter wasn't good. It made second part of the game boring. But even after this DMC 4 have something which any other game haven't before. This epic moments, epic fights, great combat system (using devil arm to draw your enemies and smash them to the ground). Thanks to DMC4 i really liked this series and i started to playing DMC3 which i loved to. And now after this they are rebooting everything what they have done and all that magic just gone...yup...I am sad :/

Sometimes reboots too have its plus sides. I started to like DMC series by one which was ported to mobile as mobile game, but next I recovered my PS2 and stored games where I had 1 and 2 buyed, I liked first more, second was shame of series. Now I getted DMC 3 and 4 for my PC i was never dissapointed, maybe these plotholes in 4th game. I personally give reboot chance.

I also give him a chance. But still, the best option for me would be if there were 2x DMC universe, DmC by NT, and DMC by capcom. That would be grat.
EDIT: Nero is great, many people hate him but I cant understand why, he is just the same as was in DMC3.

No, I'll admit Nero had great comebacks, like "The way I t-t-t-talk" I chuckled at that, and his badassery was off the charts in the final cutscene where he destroyed the False Savior, and I even sympathized with him on "You're the demon, not me" but in the end "KYRIEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!" annoyed the living hell out of me.

Did you know DMC4's cutscenes were worked on by two different teams?!
DMC cutscenes are the best!
