Difficulty Issue

I have seriously never understood this. I can't imagine a player so casual they couldn't button-mash through Easy Automatic Mode. That's what I always used that when I was getting into the franchise totally blind, as a casual player, and it wasn't scary at all.
I think developers and publisher often confuse simplifying with making a game easier. It's really not the same thing at all. For example, Mass Effect 2 simplifies almost every aspect about the game, making it ten times more approachable. All the cumbersome and usually useless inventory management is streamlined, and this allowed Bioware to focus on gameplay and story without making the game extremely difficult to play. Mass Effect 3 further iterates on this making it an almost perfect balance.

It's a difficult tightrope to balance on but I think DmC does make a lot of the cumbersome parts of the original DMC games much more streamlined and easier to swallow. It is much easier, I would say too easy in some parts, the bosses being the most notable. I think that if given a sequel it would be much more in line with what fans are use to, at least in the harder difficulty levels.

The bosses were kind of easy compared to previous games. I played Missions 20, 1, 2, 13, and 4 when I played SoS at a friend's house. Bosses falter, but the difficulty with the normal mobs is more unforgiving compared to DMC4's SoS (which was overall easy once you knew how to play).

If you want a more satisfying experience, take risks in your attacks (i.e. Eryx's charged punches) and vary your moves. The objective of playing a Devil May Cry game is to play stylishly. A higher difficulty is a challenge to use your arsenal better in a more hostile environment, not an excuse to start spamming that one move that can best handle an enemy (because frankly speaking, you'll get through the difficulty easily that way). I see too many people playing this way, because they can still obtain an unfair amount of style points from Demon Evade.

The only mission which is hard is number 16 - two Dreamrunners and witch. New DmC and his DMD mode is the easiest in the series, easier even than Must Die mode in DMC2.
2 days ago i completed DMD with all SSS rank :) awesome non-DMC game but as a DMC5 its kinda disappointing

You're simply just too good... :/
Did you use Demon dodge to get those ranks? Because if you did, then you could still challenge yourself by ignoring the Angel/Demon dodges. If you got those ranks without demon dodge, then... I have no idea how you could make it harder.

Oh my god. You're amazing.

On a side note, I would assume the reason I had to fight 2 witches and 2 dreamrunners is because I didn't kill the witch when there was the 20 second countdown? Doing all 4 at once is pretty brutal.

Actually, you could use tons of items and still get an SSS simply because they take away only 10k points, you figure a death equates 10% which would be an average of 2-4 million points and can still get an SSS with deaths. They should have made items deduct more points from your final score.

Didint use any items. Yes, sometimes i used demon dodge to build up stylish points but it wasnt my priority to make sss style rank.

Edit:
Oh no, i forgot, i used devil star just before 2 dreamrunners and witch in mission 16 because i had some difficult issues here

Ditto. a devil star > a vitality star IMO

Pretty amazing score. Forgive me for doubting you.

Been playing HOH w/out the super dante perk and I found the part in the virility facility with the 2 tyrants to be a pain in the ass because I kept on hitting the acid

Trust me mate, easiest DMD - in Devil May Cry 4
Вut raiting system in DmC broken hard - you can have SSS total raiting in mission with 4+ death.

Have got all S rank in DMC4 too and, for me, DmC is easier but its individual case. :)

^that.

It depends on the individual. And experience also.

For me, DMC1 was the hardest thing. DMC4 came in second because I hated the enemies in DMD mode... I never could find a good way to beat them. Then DMC3... I beat DMD mode in that game using only 2 large health stars... and I knew about the Beowulf JC on Vergil so he went down easy, so there is that. I never played DMC2 on DMD... but DmC is easier, by far... they could have made those enemies way, way much more annoying to deal with.

SSS is really easy mainly because 100% collectibles make getting below A more of a challenge then getting an SSS; and the item/death deductions which have already been discussed don't help.

As for difficulty comparisons I can't make a sound conclusion. Since I completed DMC1 DMD at a young age that obviously will feel like the hardest to me, and since then I have improved so much. But as it feels atm DmC is the easiest to me (Apart from DMC2). The advanced techniques being easier to achieve, and the fact standard air combat is far easier now contributes a lot to that feeling.

Hey im on sos mode and even though iv past the previous difficulties i still have a question. Do you recieve orbs at the emd of each mission
