Devil Trigger

I should say first off that it's used by pressing the left and right stick.

There's the best quality image I could find of it.
Snapped it from this video right here.

Also, it's the first time I've seen Dante going into DT mode for months. Earlier gameplay had the camera angle changed and closed up on Dante (interrupting the action) whereas here he just flashes into Devil Trigger here. Welcome change.

That and Dante can stay on the ground the entire time. His gauge doesn't run out in this video, but Devil Trigger is simply switched off.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that stuff.

That, and they've slightly changed Kat's Limbo form again. here she's just transparent with an almost mesh texture. But that's beside the point.

okay so basically everything 4chan said was true. well i was hoping they would keep the devil trigger on the L1/LB button since there is no need for two dodge buttons but oh well i guess. :P

another thing i should add, i am starting to believe more and more that dante will have an actual "demon" form. firstly because of the different faces on the HUD, and now i've snapped some pics of dante going into his devil trigger type state.

okay this first pic shows some type of energy running throughout dante's veins.

the next photo shows red energy that surrounds dante's body.

this just looks too intense and suspicious for dante to NOT go into a demon form!

I think that's how it works:

You have 2 layers of the Devil Trigger bar, the regular one is the bigger bar, but when it's about to end it changes into a lesser bar, already gray, you can see that the Devil Trigger deactivates at the exact same moment when his combo ends, so I think that once you enter the small meter, as long as you keep your combo going, the Devil Trigger will stay on.

Looks good, but I hope you can now use it while on the ground more. And I think I figured out how it works. (Theory)

I think when activated on the ground, you have to keep the combos going and not stop even though the gauge is empty. It's a test to see how good you are in this game. When you activate it and go in the air, it's the same thing, continue combos and don't touch the ground.

This Devil Trigger has a burst functionality like Nero's (not DMC3 because you had to charge up that one). But instead of damaging the enemies, it throws them up in the air... then starts using the Quicksilver-like slow down. I think you can use it whenever it hits or goes over the first smaller bar, like in previous games (the first three nodes).

When it depletes and goes into the smaller bar it actually stops if you are in the air and doing a combo, I've seen them doing ground combos and the bar still went down... so I think you do have to be in the air.

Where's the demon & angel forms of Dante? Why can't the trigger go full demon?

Where have you been the last two years? He was never able to trigger into a full demon OR to have an angel trigger either, at least nothing that has been hinted to or confirmed officially. He's always just changed colour scheme.

and that is NT calls Devil Trigger...for a guy to be half Demon and Half angel....to just change color scheme....lol horrible

It looks like the DT gauge depletes faster if you stay on the ground.

He does change the color scheme of the entire would around him so that epic in its own way lol and who knows somthing may change later on in the game.

that's what i'm thinking, i mean you can see a much more demonic(or possibly angelic) form of dante on the HUD when he goes into devil trigger. also in the e3 trailer when it shows him go into devil trigger it just really gives me the feel that he will hit demonic form before the game is over.

on that note i'd like to add that powerful demons seem to have the power to influence limbo at will. This is shown mainly against poison when she changed the surrounding behind dante. I think that's why dante's such an important weapon and why demons hate him. He carries the blood of one of most powerful demons if he mastered his powers he could control limbo at will.

That never crossed my mind before, but think of the aesthetics for a minute: we see Street lights and fire hydrants "cringe" and implode when Dante walks by already, so let's try and think about, what he might be able to voluntarily do at the end of the game!

during the 2nd interview/demo at e3 yesterday i spammed the question box with "why 2 dodge buttns??" not that far in they saw and responded that because you have to hold angel trigger to use it, it would be difficult to dodge as the button is right above it. (which is bad as dodging by definition should be instant). so they decided to put two buttons instead to take out the hassle.

i think the reason his DT looks so violent is that its unstable. hes just got access to this level of demon/angel abilities so hes having a hard time keeping his powers in check. the fact you see so much energy around him is proof. previosly the energy around dante was pretty minimal. he would more or less just change. here he goes up and does the whole super saiyan style morph. so he haas to focus and put effort to transform i think its because of his confilcting nature. demon and angel cancel eachother out. so when he goes DT his demon side becomes overcharged but at the same time his angel side combats it. but thats just a theory

Whenever you use the demon dodge correctly, he sort of gets a "half-finished" DT form where his hands get that reddish colored power around it; note that this is demon dodge. In this form he gets a bit faster and powerful. So that red color around him is demon in nature. The white hair might be his angel side but I'm not sure. Though this is definitely a "Devil Trigger" not an "Angel Trigger" since he is using demonic powers, not angelic.

i would just be soo blown away if there are actually two triggers, a devil trigger and an angel trigger.
like we all think there won't even be a sufficient devil trigger but actually there are two fully awesome triggers! how great would that be? :)

Im also after this idea. This could be great as previous titles had only D.T to use.

hmmm im not sure because from what i can tell u activate DT bu pushing down on both joysticks. so i dont see how that could be altered to allow an angel trigger. unless the final version has a different system for becoming devil triggered up. tho i imagine in future games we'll have an angel trigger. then a "Dante trigger" (patent pending) where he combines both to become some sort of mega god.

That would be pretty awesome.

But what I am thinking is that Vergil is the one who is going to be having an Angel Trigger of sorts. You can see how angel moves and stuff have this blue color about them while demonic stuff are all red. This might mean Dante is more demonic or he is becoming a demon while Vergil is on the other side, he becomes more angelic.

In past games, the reason why one was blue and the other red was because Sparda had this purple demonic powers. So both blue and red color powers of the brothers were demonic, indicating like a division of Sparda's powers between them. But now that the brothers have a demon father and an angel mother means that these two powers can be divided into those. So essentially, Vergil is more like Eva while Dante is more like Sparda... sort of speak.

very nice theory angelmode :) i like it! i think that could be a great way to put conflict between the brothers, one an angel one a demon.
