Depressing scenery

The area looks rather abandoned, like the residents gave up hope on the city a long time ago. Some what of a ghetto with the graffiti.

Quite the scene if you ask me. I remember how depressed I was over HL2 when I saw how miserable the humans looked due to the Combine taking over, like they didn't even care anymore, they knew they were enslaved, and they just learned to live with it.

Perhaps this is a story element, to help make the player want to defeat the demons even more?

I think it's just to look modern and not 'uplifting' as much as ominous and dangerous maybe. If the humans had given up, then why do the demons still have to hide themselves? They wouldn't if they had truly enslaved all the people. They just appear to have the humans in a web of deception... or something.

Though this does make me wonder if there will be a proper "demon world" as there has been in series' past, or whether it will be radically different from the demon worlds before which were quite different from the real world, either like the inside of a body or a paradoxical place like in DMC3. Will it be more like the spectral world in Soul Reaver where it isn't THAT different, but some differences show up when you shift into the other world, as well as showing up normally invisible enemies.

Must say, I preferred this city's design GREATLY over the current one that looks like a box of frutty pebbles was thrown up all around the city lol.

To put it simply, I dislike bright and colorful daytime settings in my DMC games which is one of the complaints I had about DMC4. And judging by the looks of the city, that has been bumped up a notch (at least in that section of the gam). The nighttime carnival is a nice "start" but why couldn't they have kept this dark city setting that was initially shown?

huh.:/ I remember you saying that somewhere else too. Infact, wasn't something like this talked about before? Like involving the areas and their colors?

Anyway, dark or sunny is not big to me. More so the thrill of the fight.

If I recall this city looks like the one from DMC2 mixed with Fortuna. When Dnate is attacked it becomes ugly. Ether way DMC citys have never been great looking so were not missing much here.

Yea I said it before, but I believe it was offtopic on the last topic so this one is more appropriate.

But yea, you guys can have the cotton candy bunny city settings, I'm just not liking it. Just my matter of preference really.

Though I wonder what other places will be around? From the trailers theirs the city, The carnival, the factory, and the secret place. Plus the city at night and that church.

From this trailer I was refering too

Oh yea that trailer lol, they showed so very little of the "night city" that I forgot about it honestly...

And it still looks no where near as dark as the "initial city", and it also looks like its a part of the "night circus" part of the game. But yea, hopefully a lot more "darker scenery" shows up in later trailers.

Fox fur, huh?

Now I want one!

^THIS!!!!!
Izaya!

Another thing very depressing is that Dante is in an outdated torture position, in the first trailer. If I am correct, A medieval one often used to whip people, it was also an execution position that someone would pull a lever or turn a crank and it would dismember whoever was attached to the chains by pulling them further apart, which means the "youthful correction facility" isn't even trying to masquerade as normal, otherwise they would've just put him in an interrogation chair or a straight jacket. Limbo City must have horrible living conditions.

It feels to me like the story is designed to **** the player off at the demons, so when it is time for battle you completely slaughter them

I personally like this kind of environment.

Besides, there are lots more dark environments like the huge tunnel, the dome and the warehouse.

I think the tunnel is the factory, or at least the "limbo-fied" version of it. And what dome are you talking about, because if you mean the one from the special trailer, then that's possibly part of the factory as well.

I'm not sure whether or not it's a tunnel but it sure looks like one. A big-ass one, that is. And yeah, it's most probably part of the supposed factory with all that piping and stuff. Then again, what factory has an enormous underground tunnel?
