Dante confusion

Is it really Dante? I know it sounds crazy but he could be Vergil....he,s cold enough to be......why is he so morose and robotic

Different team thought DMC1 Dante wasn't cool enough

yeap, pretty much Production Team 1 felt that Dante from DMC1 was not in line with what they felt was "cool and badass", since the general japanese idea of a impressive "badass" is stoic and restrained in emotional displays...look at Vampire Hunter D for that example, since that's exactly what Dante acted like in DMC2.
