Character Development?

One of my biggest questions about this game has been: How?

We have heard that by the end of this game we should have the Dante we all know and love back, appearance, attitude, and all.

But how is that even possible?

How could this turn into this?

There are key differences between these characters that would require a series of plot twist, emotional events, and hours of levels/gameplay to evolve the character.

So do you guys think it could be pulled off without being completely ridiculous?

Considering character development is one of Ninja Theory's strong points I am definitely confident in their abilities.
So I'm going with, yes they can pull it off.
It might be a mystery now, but we will see when the game comes out. And even those who don't want to buy the game can at least look on youtube to see the cutscenes and see for themselves if that character development is there.

How hard is it to understand that this is a reboot the characters and lore? This is an origin story for this particular incarnation of Dante, and over the course he'll evolve and become accept his legacy and purpose (similar to how it worked for Dante in DMC3).

He's not turning into Classic Dante. That wouldn't even make any sense. He'll come into his own towards the end of the game. They're two different worlds and characters. They're not connected.

Except they've said that by the end we should have a rebooted long-white-haired Dante with a stylish "I don't care" attitude and a red coat, to further support this claim is his Devil Trigger.

I don't see how it's impossible. Dante is probably going to have many hardships, and also have to make major moral choices that will effect who he is. I'm sure Vergil will play into it somehow, just like he did in DMC3.

You can't say he'll turn EXACTLY like Dante1 or 3 but you could say that it's his start of that change for the better, but how that happens is something we have to experience and come to our own conclusions. That's what I hope for at least.

Considering it's the people that made Enslaved, I'm looking forward to see what happens with Dante's character development along with any other characters in the game. They turned Monkey who started out at the beginning as selfish loner that threatened break Trip's neck into a guy that was a team playered and worried for the friends, one of whom had enslaved him and the other that tried to kill him at one point. You'd think 'no way could pull something like that off' but do so and on a believable level (exaaaample).

DmC is an origin story, Dante's journey from his rough upbringing into becoming his own. After the show I got with Enslaved, I'm sure it'll be something good so don't worry about it ^_^ it's more like looking forward to a interactive film than a video game.

Again, what makes you think they're going to make him exactly like the classic Dante? Just cause he has white hair and stylish and cocky attitude doesn't make mean he's exactly like the original. You're taking this to the extreme, which is creating the confusion here.

They're going with their own interpretation of the character. There's going to be some familiar aspects, but that's all they are. It's not connected to or trying to be exactly like the old Dante, pure and simple.

I like him, ya know as a character but he isn't a guy to spend time with, Kat is crazy for falling for him!

They did say that they are trying to explain "how Dante became Dante" sort of idea. I am more than 100% sure that this Dante won't turn into past DMCs' Dante because... well, it's not the same friggin' person. If so, this would be called a prequel.

Though I do expect this Dante to become more like the old one and acquire some of his attributes. But, again, it won't be an exact copy and we will see major differences between the two.

So can they pull this off? Sure they can. It's their own version of Dante. They can make him turn into a girl at the end of the game if they so damn please. It probably wouldn't make any sense but who gives a ****? I played the old games not giving ****s about the plotholes so that I would enjoy it more.

They never said that. You're taking this WAY too literally.

Don't get me wrong, I do realize there will be key differences between them. It will be a REBOOTED version of Dante he develops into, but hell, with that devil trigger of his, there is no MISTAKING the fact that he will turn into some form of a rebooted original Dante

Oh so you're saying that they are making it quite obvious.

Yeah, I agree with you on that one. ^_^

All of this is assuming the--at least in my eyes--obsolete rumor is true; that DmC Dante will become DMC Dante at the end of the game. Character development is something for the story writers to take care of. Obviously, and this isn't an insult, some of us aren't meant to be story writers, so let's just leave this for Ninja Theory to figure out--well, they did already, really.
It's just a matter of waiting and seeing if they did really good or completely horrible.

Besides, what's the difference between this Dante and DMC 4 Dante? A stuble and some muscles?

Cowboy boots and roses. Dude.

Cowboy boots and roses.

Nah, there are some major key differences between the new Dante and his DMC3 counterpart (which was basically the same as in DMC4). Looks aside, they actually do act a lot more different in terms of how they express themselves. DMC3 Dante is cool-headed, shows little to no emotion/concern about anything, while this one really shows it (for example when he gets ****ed off for Kat's kidnapping). You could say the new Dante is a lot more serious and feels more human... which is ironic since he has no human blood at all this time around.

At the end, Dante will realize his true calling, his will turn white, his jacket will become red and even redesigned like removing the hood, he opens up his own shop "Devil May Cry", and mature out of his cocky, angsty teen self into a responsible yet cool and chill grown man.

The End.

That is what Tameem and Andrew was talking about.

Did you just spoil me, pal? XD
