Yeah I heard some game in the past that was like that....wasn't it called DMC2?
Seriously?
There can be two interpretions in those words.
1. He means Dante could not possibly hit a human woman.
2. I do not care about the franchise that was invaded by my colleagues. And it sucks.
To me I don't think it's 2. but who knows?
And those are the only 2 possibilities? Please.
@Berto But you forget that people that hate Tameem accuse him of badmouthing other developers even though he's just using a professional criticism. Like the Naughty Dog situation people love to bring up in which he didn't even talk bad about ND at all. I've never really read Kamiya make a professional criticism from another game. Its mostly "its a ripoff" or "i don't like it" or something like that..
What happened with Naughty Dog?
The reason why Kamiya doesn't get so much flak is because DMC fans like him. Its pure biased. Tameem also can rightfully critique the old games because he wasn't involved with them. And even then, the stuff he's said about them is only comparing on what Capcom wanted the direction of the series to follow which is to westernize.
I don't really think Tameen's criticism of the old series qualifies as 'professional' critisism.
Sure, Tameen didn't work on the original franchise but that's unrelated. If he wasn't working on a DMC title right now it'd be a different story. His personal feelings for the franchise will have a direct impact on the game. I he was just another developer talking about a game he has nothing to do with it'd be a different story.
For some people Dante isn't cool and he is too Japanesey.
I wish people would find another word for this. It's no different than saying that their tacos are too Mexican.
None of these are an insult but just an opinion and that some people actually share and agree with and fit in with the game he's making. I don't know what's wrong with that?
You think he handled that marvaliously? You have to admit he said some rather stupid things. People were rabid at the time and rather than trying a more subtle, soothing, approach he ended up trowing napalm on the fire.
And also, he's only said this stuff because the interviewer has asked him a question pertaining to this whole western vs eastern thing.
Tameen? Wasn't it the dude who made Rez who was asked about that?
Do you expect him to just stare at the person and not say anything.
I do expect people to have some common sence and not say things that will get them in hot water. I guess I expect too much...
I don't know why everyone hangs on every word he says. Its just an opinion, he's not the only one making this game. Itsuno's making it to, why aren't we making Twilight photoshops of him as well? Oh right...DMC 3 and that ever present biased POV. It's not like Tameem is in the game or anything. He's just trying to sell his game and spread attention for it.
People who are in the spotlight are subject to this kind of treatment. You wouldn't expect a public figure like a governor or another type of goverment possition to just blatently say outloud something crude; They'd have a more PC way of presenting their opinion. Same goes for those who get interviewed about their games, theyare subject to public opinion and all the fun tid bits that come with it.
Also, i find some Haters to be kinda racist as well. As they tend to view Japanese games as superior to Western games and try to make that into some kind of weird fact. But all and all, its just biased POV's.
Another double edge situation since there are people who say Western games are superior and they themselves end up been called racist for it.
It's called backwards racism, by the way.
