BLACKSWIPE
"Waiting for one's arrival."
These are just a few of my level ideas, I really pondered over these for a good while. Here are a few of my ideas. While going through DmC again, I couldn't help but take notice of the landscape around me. It was beautiful, the colors were vivid, it was spectacular to take in what NT had created. Their environmental vision had jumped straight from paper into a game, and it was absolutely gorgeous. While thinking of that, I then jumped to potential level designs within DmC2. While I LOVED the levels in DmC, I feel like DmC2 needs to go above and beyond to give us a greater thrill then what we felt from the environments in DmC. DmC2 needs to be that 'wow...' factor, something that would really give you something to think about. I have to tell someone about my ideas, before my head dies. You might as well call this bad-fanfiction XD. I might actually turn this in to a story if you bastards like it enough. Some of these level ideas also contain semi-finished plot ideas, so don't be weirded out when you read them.
1. ARCADE INSANITY
It would be amazing to see a warped arcade level within DmC2, it would be more than amazing it would be spectacular. The arcade would warp and spin completely out of control, colors flying everywhere, neon lights going off all around. The level would be huge and would contain many different areas inspired by classic arcade games, pac-man, street-fighter, pinball, the claw game and so on. One area could have a pac-man themed layout, the camera would zoom slighty out to expose the maze-like area, with crazy flashing demons chasing Dante from behind. Then Dante would make his way to a pinball like game, where Dante would have to avoid a giant spiked pinball flying towards him at an insane speed, all while dealing with a herd of smaller-ball demons. Then after that Dante would progress onwards into another game area with a claw theme, where Dante would engage in a mini-boss fight within a giant 'claw-game', where he would have to fight a giant demon claw and fist, both suspended from the ceiling with chains.
After winning the fight, Dante would drop through a trap door and fly through a tunnel, before flying out of the game with a ****-load of stuffed animals. I can then imagine him making a funny comment like this: "Damn, I wanted the Lion, not the Zebra! Damn demon grabbed the wrong one!" Dante would then enter an area where it would take a 2d appearance, fully rendered in pixels and everything. He would then proceed to battle it out with demons, in a sort of bloody-palace like area. After defeating the demons before the timer ran out, he would be rewarded with a giant golden key, which he would grab and run out of the pixelated area with. When he jumps out of the screen and back into the non-pixelated game, the key is actually revealed to be nearly a hundred times heavier than what it actually is, and Dante isn't expecting that.
The key sends him plummeting off the edge of a cliff, smashing through the screen of the next game. When he stands up, dusting his coat of, it is revealed that he is now in the 'final level'. The Demon that Dante is out to kill generates from pixels in front of Dante, and reveals his true identity. The demon resembles that of A crossover of all of the most iconic characters in gaming, only horribly slaughtered and mashed together as one. The boss-battle would be balls of the wall crazy, lazers, the pinballs, segments of it turning into pixels, and an all around visual stunner. After Dante delivers the last blow, the demon starts to violently fall to pieces(pixels) growling about how he failed his master. When Dante asks who his master is, the demon is decapitated by an unknown force. The shadow that sliced the head off from the demon seemingly vanishes off into the distance, at a speed far to fast for Dante to follow.
2. Peaceful Chaos
Something like this would play within the background of the level, a nice change of pace that fits the level well, compared to the usual combichrist or nosia.
This would be an area that is seemingly peaceful, warm rolling hills, a mysterious forest, and a creek that quietly bubbles off into the background, jagged snow covered peaks far off into the distance. Dante has heard reports of a wounded man with white hair deep within the forest, and has a hunch that it might be Vergil. After several hours of hiking, Dante has reached the area where the Vergil look-a-like was reported to be seen. He proceeds to walk across a meadow of strangely colored flowers, some of them bright shades of orange covered in purple stripes. Curious of them, he bends down to pick one, the moment his fingers brush the flowers, the entire area erupts in a violent earthquake. Jumping up and grabbing rebellion, he turns towards the source of the shaking. Out of the forest run several hundred elk-like beasts, all of which are demon. Each one of them are covered in vines adorned with golden flowers, their horns twisted backwards elegantly into a spiral, each one supporting two or three birds who had perched themselves on them. When Dante thinks that the elk are just about to slam into him, the elk suddenly slow down to avoid Dante, scrambling behind him. Slightly shaken, he yanks out Ebony and Evory and is about to point them at the elk, when a noise from the forest catches his attention. A large Rage demon, far larger than what he had seen before, creeps out from behind the trees, an elk head within his mouth. Dante would then battle it out with the rage, using the skills that he had learned so far to kill the beast. With the beast dead, Dante stands to look around the area, but its changed.
The entire area erupted into a spectacular landscape of warm colors and blue skies. The land he now stood on is now suspended several hundred feet with the air, along with a good number of other areas. A water fall pours out from within a chunk of land high above him, carefully flowing out from within the bottom of a near by island of floating land. But before Dante can say anything, the elk charge him, exclaiming that he 'saved them'. Dante pushes them off of him and points his guns at them, completely prepared to pull the trigger when something stops him. The elk looked just as scared as he did when he was a child, confused and frightened of what was happening to him.
Dante would then grumble something about mercy, putting his guns away before threatening the elk again, only without death this time. When he asks who they are, a voice stops him. Turning around, he notices an African-american gentlemen perched up against a tree. It was Phineas, hidden within a human appearance. Dante looks slightly amused that Phineas is freed, and starts to bomb him with questions. Phineas then waits for Dante to finish, before thanking him. Thanks to the defeat and dead of Mundus, Phineas was finally able to escape from the confines of the prison within Bob Barbas's lair and finally able to make it back to his home, which was the forest that they were now within.
It was his sole duty to watch over the elk and the forest, which was a sacred place for peaceful demon who did not serve the demon-king. When Phineas had refused to reveal the location of the place to Mundus, he was thrown within Bob Barbas's prison. The place was created to protect rare and powerful demon who didn't want to be used. Phineas then mentions that this place was actually created by two powerful demon, one who was now enslaved deep within the forest, and Sparda himself. While sparda could not be freed, the other powerful demon could. He needed Dante's help explaining that without the original creator of the forest freed, the place would wilt and die. Phineas himself was not able to protect the forest all by himself, that was the reason for the Rage chasing the elk. Dante starts to refuse, but then remembers what he had said to Vergil at the start of his original fight. That he didn't care, that he didn't give a ****. Agreeing, he follows Phineas and the elk deeper into the forest, Vergil would have to wait. This would be the point where Dante starts to care for more than Kat, where he starts to realize that not all demon are bad.
