Are The Enemies' Attacks Really That Slow?

One of the complaints about this game is that the enemies' attacks are "too slow" and "too obvious".

But I recall enemies in previous games having noisy and slow attacks as well, like how the Bianco Angelo go "vroom vroom" before charging at you with an easy-to-dodge rocket thrust.

In the highest difficulty of the DmC demo, it seems that enemies randomly attack a second time.
If they miss, they will perform a second swipe without the initial delay.

One thing I noticed about the enemies' attacks is that the whole delay thing increases the chances of off-screen hits.
They will start up their attacks at the corner of the screen before disappearing off-camera without you noticing as you're moving around.
And when you least expect it, an enemy suddenly swipes you from outside of the screen.

At least it's not as bad as the Frost's ice shotgun blast, where they jump backwards as part of the start-up, increasing the chances of doing the attack off-screen.

The broadcast is probably the most prominent thing about them, and the frequency is low on lower difficulties at certain times.

Considering the enemies we've seen are towards the very beginning of the game, it's pretty reasonable. The ones from the later levels look more challenging.

Gregaman was getting hassled somethin' fierce in his last stream, and in the DMD stream, so we know it picks up somehow.

Like someone already, the problem is that they give away their attacks much more noticeable than in previous games. In DMC3 and DMC4, you had to pay close attention to the enemies all the time to notice which are about to attack you. In DmC, while not all enmies do this, they make their attacks more noticeable, most notably the chainsaw demon, who turns bright right when he's about to attack you.

Not really, once you get the timing down you could easily royalguard block anything that came your way in previous DMC games, but what made it difficult was that they all would attack in groups, not one at a time. I think DmC's timing is the same, but what makes it more noticeable is that their weapons shine before they hit

I dunno. The attacks certainly felt a lot easier to dodge in DmC. I still get hit in DMC3 and 4 but never get touched in DmC so I let the results speak for themselves in this. In DMC the enemies gave an audio and visual cue for their attacks but (with the exception of very few attacks) most of their warnings aren't all that ling.

On another note I'm not so sure I'd say the enemy's get harder further in this game since the players never seem all that good at dodging... Just saiyan.

They aren't slower, just more noticable. There were even a lot of later enemies in DMC3 that give you a warning for about 2-3 seconds before they attack, but since they don't shine, they can attack you if you are concentrating on another enemy or they can hit you from off screen. From what I've seen from DmC. The new enemies give a long warning when they use a special move, but when they use their regular attacks its right off the bat.

The Rage's attack swipes seem to be at "regular speed".

There was no "charging time" and they just simply swiped.

which ones were the rage enemies? my google searches for "DmC rage" are, predictably, not leading me toward any information about DmC's in game enemies

They weren't in the demo :p

They've been shown off several times in streams, and they're rather fast. Just swiping claws and even jumping out of your combos.

anyone got a link to a recorded version? I'd love to see some enemies that don't telegraph their attacks for days. I'm hoping those enemies in the demo were just really really slow because it was the intro area
