I love my dog, but I still value human life above all other living species, even a human I hate.

The only way I would forsake the neighbor is if he killed a loved one of mine, or was a mass murderer, or stole my entire life savings.

Other than that there is nothing he could have done to make me want to let a human I could save die in front of me for the sake of my dog.

Not to mention if he had done either of the things I listed above he would not even be my neighbor anymore since he would most likely be in jail lol.

I think that, because I see my pets as my babies and I do tend to have a strong maternal instinct, I'd save my pet. It wouldn't depend on love or hate, just what my instincts would call for. Take the pet out of the equation, and I would save my neighbor because that's what my instincts would tell me to do.
