Thought I had posted this already but I looked back and apparently I didn't.
Anyway, if you don't want to delete the sound files in order to improve frame rate, another solution can be switching to 16 bit colors in your desktop. On Windows 7, that means switching from Aero to Basic.
It helped in my case.
