Don't Let the Fall of America be Your Fall
I'm starting to think that DmC is all the Devil May Cry games mixed into one. What with so much going on in it from what we've seen and heard;

DmC &DMC1 Mundus seems to be the antagonist again and Dante's attitude seems to be like DMC1 Dante's attitude, the attitude we haven't seem from Dante in awhile.

DmC & DMC2 The stage where Dante's in the city resembles a part of the area from DMC2, and I know everyone remembers the giant demon that came out of the building, right?

DmC & DMC3 DmC Dante and DMC3 Dante are the most alike. Both wear next to simple clothing, both are young, and both are pretty cocky and kick ass. Only new Dante seems more controlled and doesn't do much one-liners but does witty comments. Stil, flying naked through your trailer and putting on your clothes at the same time is someting I see the old Dante doing too. But who's complaining?

DmC & DMC4 I see Nero within new Dante for a few obvious reasons. Both have grappling abilities, both swing their swords with a self taught fashion, and both seem to enjoy hoodies with their long coats. Only new Dante seems more on edge and more rude then Nero. I think of Nero as "Reboot attempt no. 1."

DmC & DMC1 novels The game seems to take a lot from the novel from what I've heard since I've never read the novel.

DmC & DMC anime There's not much to it, but I do want to point out that in that episode with the wish granting Demon, Dante went to devil's prison to get this guy out and the guards and chief were demons in disquise so maybe this is where a portion of the story came from. Possibly but highly doubtfull.

Anyway, that's what I think, how about you?
Don't worry, I'll read them

If I'm not mistaken, it was suspected that this game would lead up to DMC2 with the new Dante becoming DMC2 Dante, since they both look alike.

when was that suspected?
Some optimistic people on Capcom-Unity and the NT forums thought so back in the summer, I think.
I do think in the first trailer (and in your signature) Dante looked A LOT like DMC2 Dante, but now he's changed to just look like Tim Phillipps. It ain't bad.

But I also wanted to say that while DmC Dante seems to have a sense of humor as prevalent as and slightly darker than DMC3 Dante's, he reminds me of the first Dante as well.

Jokes every once in a while.
Ass-kicking comes first.

I don't really see his similarity with DMC1 Dante. I don't even think DMC1 Dante even cracked jokes rather he had some cool response to... pretty much everything.

From what I can remember, his only joke was "flock off, Feather-face."
Other than that, most of his character was based on his cockiness and his supreme ass-kicking abilities, which I see in DmC Dante.

I wouldn't think of DmC as cocky, more like highly sarcastic and generally uncaring.

Actually, yeah, what Railazel said was right. There was a theory circulating that DmC was just essentially all of the original games compiled into one large game, but with a different take. Like you'd have DMC 3-DMC 2. Seemed unlikely, but it was cool. I think it was discussed here a while back, before I was a member.

And it was quite confusing since we had no idea what to think of it.

Definitely...but if they pulled it off, it would've been a little pointless. What's a reboot for, then?

It would've been a remake in that case. But even now, it being a reboot is pointless since DMC is still a pretty young franchise.

i think it is all in one. We are gonna to see DmC resonating to all previous DMC games.
I am happy to see Vergil again.

Vergil's confirmed? When did this happen?
He never was.
It's just a theory.

Sparda has been confirmed by name twice. Dante comes into Limbo because of a "trusted relation." Tameem and the most recent interview have both said that we'll see some familiar faces.

The voice talking to Dante at the beginning of the Captivate demo must be Vergil. Well, hopefully :P

To be honest,i want vergil to replace dante as the main character in devil may cry years ago O_o
Vergil at least, deserves his own game.

I don't think Vergil deserves anything. There's not enough of a backstory in the games to flesh him out and give us, or at least me, a reason to care about whatever he wants to do. He got a playable role in DMC 3, and his appearance in DMC 1 promised a good story which never came to life. I think that's enough of Vergil.

For you,not for me.
As for not enough back story, developers can just simply make one and make it as a prequel of what happened to vergil after the attack on the sparda family. But considering the circumstances right now,it will probably never gonna happen, ever.
