About Eva...

I don't think that picture would exist if it had nothing to do with the game. I wouldn't worry about it because a fictional game has no baring on how angels are portrayed in Judaism and Christianity. I adhere to beliefs within Judaism and DmC's portray of angels doesn't bother me in the least because its fiction. So don't worry. :)

I'm not really worried, I'm used to games portraying angels as evil, villainous, etc.. I think it's because I'm not used to angels being portrayed as seducers. But I'll get used to it.

Now on the topic of Eva, there's one reason why I don't believe that Eva will be anything bad.

You guys remember the glowing mark on Dante's back? Obviously it's angelic, but its sword- like shape makes me think that that's Rebellion in a sealed form. Considering the assumption that it's an angelic sealing, I think Eva might have sealed it so that Dante won't have to carry it around in public.

That would explain why he didnt "catch" rebellion or anything like that when hes naked and putting his clothes on. he grabs Ebony and Ivory but just HAS rebbelion

Though in the game cut scene he casually carries it around, surely he would use said seal then?

still could eye m8 :D

But he does carry it around in public. But that's a good theory thou.

Thanks. Now, I can't really guess on the seal's mechanics and how much control Dante has over it, but according to Tameem it just magically appears. What I do think though is that the reason why he casually carries it around is because its constantly apparent in reality, however people who can't perceive the supernatural can't see it. I assume that's the reason why, even though he's a wanted fugitive and the sword is a pretty noticeable object to carry around, no one seems to notice that the "terrorist" spoken of in the news is him and, even moreso, why they don't seem to notice the sword.

I have a feeling Dante harbors some sort of contempt for his mother here. I believe Eva will still be his mom, but the relationship seems like it'll be a little sour. Maybe she's the misunderstood mother who left her kids suddenly for some reason, and she reappears later to help Dante, but he won't want it?

Dante doesn't seem to harbor contempt but I assume he feels some form of sadness for not knowing his mother and only hearing of her being some sort of prostitute. Though I agree that there's a good chance she'll pop up in the game.

Not related, but is the mark on his back the mark of Rebellion?
One preview mentioned that his tattoo glowed and the sword popped out of his back.

That, and it has healing properties. So... Would that be an angelic or a demonic mark?

awesome, could you provide a link where the preview mentions rebellion coming from his back?

The Destructoid preview that said this:
"As the demon approaches, Dante's sword magically appears on his back. As silly as this sounds, it still manages to somehow come off as cool at the same time"
That does sound silly. But Classic Dante carried many swords on his back without a sheath or support (expect DMC3) so it works.

Just my two cents, but before they went with the "parallel universe" thing, my theory was that by the end of the game he would've lost his angelic powers, which meant Eva would've been half angel half human. That would've left him dealing with just his demon background and could tie in with how he'd shape into the classic Dante we know.

As for him saying he doesn't know anything about his mother in the trailer, he could be lying for all we know. He probably just has a huge disdain for her or remembering her seeing as NT has him growing up in a lot of orphanages. I think he at least has to have some idea of who she was if he's wearing the amulet and demons know he's the son of Sparda.

In DMC3 he did tell Vergil he didn't have a father so who knows.

^ I think it depends on how much you know your parents when your 8 or 9 years old. So if Dante was 8 when his mom died, how much does he really know her?

Well when your 8 or 9, a child usually idolizes their mother. ESPECIALLY if there is no father figure in their life. As a result loosing her (especially to demons) creates some pretty deep scars.

i personally got the feeling that he "genuinely" didnt know his mother, perhaps he lost her at the age of 4-9. at that age, tragedy is often repressed completely. Or maybe he was too young to remember. im not sure he would hold a grudge against her seeing as (as far as we know) shes dead. in DMC3 we dont really know what happened to Sparda, they just say he vanished. so i can see him holding a grudge there.if he cant remember her maybe he just hold onto the amulet as a keepsake. and the demons he was fighting made it pretty obvious who his father was with the whole screaming "DIE SON OF SPARDA" and what not

ooor you could be right and hes just ffucking with the demon before he kills it you never really know. :P

Well he does tell him he's not the first to call him a son of a bitch, so I would think after the umpteenth time a demon said so he'd maybe wonder who she was.

i think calling some one a son of a bitch isnt that uncommon. its just an insult. while i do agree that if every demon kept refernceing his "whore mother" i see where his curiosity would come from. then again we dont have much to go on at this point. so im just gonna wait for a release. btw on a different topic does anyone know when the release date actually IS?
