Given that Dante, Sparda, Rebellion, and the Amulet around Dante's neck have all found their way into DmC's strange world, I'm guessing Dante's mother will still be Eva. This is good! But now she's not a human. Does this really change anything about Eva's character?
Did Eva really have an important role in the series?

For example, Bayonetta's Universe has Eva as a powerful witch who "enters into a contract with Sparda." Awesome! It's evidence that she got to be a total badass in that timeline!

Devil May Cry 1 just mentions her as being Dante's mother; and the reason Dante is a demon hunter. It also lays the groundwork for Trish. But as far as we know, that's it. A regular human woman who died.

In short, Eva died in the name of a backstory.

Like many others, I was pretty annoyed to hear that Dante would be half-angel in DmC. But recently, I've given it a bit of thought. Both demons and angels inhabit this world. Given that Sparda was powerful and he's the source of Dante's demon powers, and Eva's the source of all of Dante's Angel powers, then was Eva powerful as well? The Hunter Demon made sure to insult Dante's mother, as if the demons harbored a particular hatred for her.
Maybe she's not a damsel in distress or a long-forgotten background character here.
Maybe she's a badass who can stand up to the demon forces.

And if this game wants to make a backstory-only character into something amazing, then so be it.
 
Hmm always saw Eva as a loving mother figure, but it sounds interesting. What if you actually faced Eva in the game as an enemy?
Or would that be to much like Snake and the Boss in MGS3?
Dante vs. Eva could make for a great conflict to the character and give more depth.
 
I think her being human doesnt not prevent her from being badass, ie Lady. It just depends on the writer tho.

i think she was meant to be a witch in kamiya's vision and the whole reason dante is still alive is cause of her intervention.

And andy serkis as sparda.

If they want to do more with her, thats fine.
 
I just wonder where the "human" part comes in. He has three different types of weapons. Angel, Demon, Human. So, what he just "becomes human" because he was left in this world? Atmospheric contamination? Or is it the demon blood that makes him human? I just wish it were explained why he looks human and has a "human" weapon when he has no human heritage.

chances are they are going to make the stretch that because he has good(angel) and evil(demon) in him, that it makes him human. or they're going to gloss right over it
 
I figured that would happen. Oh well. Hopefully there will be more than a line of dialogue to explain it.

perhaps his human traits and weapons come from a human who raised Dante.

if she is the badass she seems then she may have originally tried to kill sparda and thats how they met. or she was hunting demons and sparda just turned up and finished the job (like dante and lady in DMC3)
 
I think Dante resembles a human because they took human form before coming to this world and kept it after they met. So since they resembled humans when Dante and Vergil were conceived, Dante and Vergil look human too...

That, or certain angels and certain demons just look human.
 
as mentioned by other members maybe eva was hunting demons in a demon/angel war and eva came across sparda.
so here is my theory, perhaps in this dmc universe when (if) sparda turned on the demons to save the human race eva saw this as an overwhelming act of goodness and it captured her heart. so sparda and eva kept a secret relationship until sparda made the drastic sacrifice to seal the demonic realm sealing himself on the other side.

okay this goes along with my theory, and is my answer to why dante appears human. i think when sparda turns on the demons he slowly looses the demonic blood that runs through him with that act. basically he is cleansed of the demon in him (at least appearance wise) after taking up for the humans, therefore sparda begins to become good and more humanly in appearance.

Perhaps Eva's human like form explains Dante's human like appearance.
