A Question About the Weapons

Stylish Nero

We Dem Boys!!
So in the possibility they make a DmC2 and in DMC tradition Dante in every new game gets new weapons while leaving behind his old weapons and only keep Rebellion/sword, Ebony & Ivory, and a Shotgun.

Most games do that especially of the action genre.

However, with DmC how can they can explain it I mean with DMC the weapons were separate weapons of their own identity that Dante either sold in between games or have locked up in his closet (poor Alastor) whereas the weapons in DmC where the weapons feel like forms to Rebellion or with Dante or a part of him making it hard to literally take the Eryx gloves or the Osiris scythe separate from Dante's arsenal and stuff them somewhere or sell them off. Unless if they go the generic Metroid style route of making Dante lose all his weapons except Rebellion/whip and his guns at the beginning of the game via plot device and gains new weapons and stuff.

Another issue is the fact that Osiris and Arbiter were weapons given to him by his parents making them almost sentimental. I can see Dante losing or giving up Eryx and Aquila for new weapons but not those 2.

Or the other possibility is that Dante keeps his weapons and just gets more in a sequel.......that usually is never the case.....well most of the times.

Then again this is Capcom and in every MegaMan game (no matter what series) MegaMan (or Zero) starts off each game with a fresh arsenal for no reason.....although some X games have X start out with a special armor.

Maybe I'm just overlooking things and it shouldn't matter.

no no im with you on this i hate the whole weapon refresh nonsense i personally think you should be able to access old weapons from the previous games with some new combos i think it would be a great way to keep fans with the game and as for DmC yes dante should keep arbiter and osiris as his rebellion transforms into them so they are part of the sword therefore they continue

They would probably run some sort of story line on it where the blessings of his mother and father were stolen from him by some enemy sent by Vergil.

I agree with this, they should keep the current weapons but update their move lists and add 2 or 3 more but keep the max amount of melee weapons you can have active at 5(Same as DmC).

Agreed and just make the levels and enemies harder

-_- I hate starting a game over with bar minimum

Understandable, but probably not avoidable. I've yet to play a game, where they carry over ever piece of health, energy weapon and gear.

Along these lines, has there ever been talk of or consideration of a DmC RPG? It would be cool to unlock new clothing with new traits and choose different devil hunter leveling paths.

...I have not considered a dmc rpg however i would not be opposed in the slightest can anyone imagine a dmc game that was similar to the gameplay build of a final fantasy game except real time action style fighting? a game of that magnitude..could change everything you sir you have my respect lol

Open world Rpg with dmc's gameplay would be sick, not sure about how levelling up would go though. Maybe upgradable weapon traits like in Darksiders or FF.

OMFG epic idea i love that the weapons would grow and upgrade just like the weapons in darksiders 1 and 2 gah love this idea for an"real time action style" devil may cry rpg

Well since its shown that rebellion has been 'growing' I don't see why his demonic amd angel powers wouldn't evolve either. I aalways thought when Dante aquirred a new weapon' it wasnt a wweapon he gained but just a small amount of ppower and rrebellion would change it as whatever dante wanted.

That would seem like the case....although still confused on how absorbing power from Bob a demon grants him angelic weapon/form unless he can.

A. Filter their abilities into demonic or angelic properties to form such weapons

B. Bob was a fallen angel or former angel (although there are no hints in the story and unlike the DMC verse and common Christian/religious theology on angels and demons, demons aren't fallen angels in the DmC universe so that connection is not possible)

C. Someone says it was weapon he stole from an angel/nephilim prisoner (although there was no hints of angelic prisoners or angels being involved with the prison or Bob involved with any angels)

So I'm leaning towards A.

I have a feeling the whole idea of Dante just giving up his previous weapons for the next game was just an afterthought.

Rebellion in DmC being this shape shifting weapon and how the weapons seem to become more of a part of him explains how Dante can summon any weapon at any time instead of like previous where he just randomly pulled them out his a$$.

A more in depth and customizable load out system would be nice as well as customizable weapons. Imagine some form of weapons crafting system in Devil May Cry. Can take your combo making to a more personal level and you can really have the freedom to develop your own style.

I'd rather just use the Kingdoms of Amalur RPG system where there are a lot of weapons but you can only learn certain combos depending on what class you pick (and if you pick all of them, then you end up not being able to buy the best parts of those weapons/classes.

Anyway, I tried using a "weapon creation" system in other games and found it wasn't to my liking. Creating your own combos like in Remember Me or Godhand also seems kind of troublesome, in my honest opinion.

To me, it would be preferable to just pick out the combos that my class (Angel (Mage)/Demon (Warrior)/Human (Rogue)) would allow me to use.

The fight against Vergil ain't too bad but the rest are simple even on DMD and hell and hell which is a shame for those of us who like to torture ourselves with crazy difficulties

This, there isn't much strategy needed to beat them. I remember playing ninja gaiden sigma 1, I completed the game once and thought it was hard. The difficulty was on ninja dog.....
