A Cool MGS: Rising E3 Trailer

It is part of the series. Also Raiden came to be BECAUSE the fans, worldwide wished for it.So saying that he is hated etc just proves how whiny the western gamers have become.

MGS fans from all over the world wanted a game where another character would be use to Snake and Snake would finally be the "veteran/boss" in the series.Just because some whiny b*tches loved to hate the game and now it has become an internet phenomenom like the rick-rolls,the bashing of the Final Fantsy series, the extreme hatred for Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy VII,the non-stop trolling action at the MGS gamefaqs boards, the absolute love for pokemon etc.

As you can see I can go on and on.Thing is,Kojima cares about the fans and he made the game because the fans not only supported him, they asked through fan-mail,with the greatest respect and tact about a game with a main character other than the Snakes.

And no,they are not gonna screw up the story.Neither 4's story. It is highly plausible that Rising will have some 4 tidbits.

As for the whole hollow thing : Kojima said once : While Metal Gear is Snake's story, there are stories that must be seen to fully understand everything. That is why we got MGS 3,MGS peace Walker and we will get RISING!

It just doesn't really feel like it is serving a purpose and it's being made for the sake of being made because it looks cool. Everyone hated MGS2 Raiden and hardly anybody would care if they never made him a cyborg ninja and gave him his own game now. This ninja thing just feels so forced and hollow after the awe wears off.

He was only a Cyborg Ninja for a short time between
finding Big Boss and settling down with his family
So they can't exactly take this very far without totally screwing up 4. Is it even part of the series or is it a spinoff?

A prequel to MGS4, and a sequel to MGS2.

^And I agree what Devil Bane said.

^*Manly tears*Thank you...my friend.

Also I'm uber hyped for that. Here's hoping for dual audio so I can hear Quinton Flynn's awesome light voice shouts and when I feel the need t change, switch to Horiuchi kenyuu's manly screams of awesomeness.[Though it doesn't fit a young man like Raiden,he is so manly that it's acceptable.]

Edit : Just read the article. And viewed the comments...my god!Everything I said, these guys make it true. And "for us diehard fans Metal Gear represents Solid Snake. So don't bother."...wow!JUST WOW!LIKE THE F*CKING FANATICS OF SOCCER!!!

JUST WOW!!!!First it was everything related to sports and fun turned into the worst kind of money grabbing industry that slaves people at their chairs, watching some idiots play games each and everyone would play and have more fun than just watch and grow "couch-bellies".

Now the same thing happens with videogames, turning them into a mindless fanboy war and job,but this time round IT'S THE F*CKING "FANS" THAT DO ALL THIS???Just great!!!!And they said the sins of our fathers couldn' carry on to the children...sh1t!

You are welcome.

Quinton Flynn is a very talented voice actor. His role as Reno (FFVII Series), Axel (Kingdom Hearts series) and especially Raiden (MGS series) are awesome. I am actually surprised to how he was able to change his voice from a carefree guy to a serious, emotionless guy in MGS4. I don't know much about his Japanese voice actor counterpart, but his voice is great in MGS4 trailers.

Hopefully, he will return in MGS: Rising. And dual audio in the game will be awesome. :D

Seems to me, yes. But it is fitting, since it is in Japanese.

Akio Otsuka is a great voice actor. Very talented and versatile voice actor.

I also loved the character that Richard Doyle & Chikao Otsuka voiced in MGS4. Truly awesome character voiced by awesome voice actors. You know who I meant, Devil Bane?

Yup.And it was a good "gimmick" for the japanese, since the "father" gimmick transcended the actors and went to the characters too...in a way.Though they could be "brothers" I say, father and son is better for the two.

And,love Akio-san's voice works.

I wanted to see that character to return in another MGS game. Perhaps his life as Big Boss during old years, possibly after Peace Walker and before Metal Gear. However, this is is unlikely to happen. Still, Hideo Kojima has a lot of surprises. So he may will surprise us some day with a game that features "him" after Peace Walker.

I find that all MGS games are very important, including MGS: Portable Ops and MGS: Peace Walker. However, MGS3 is the most important game in MGS series, in my opinion. Hopefully, MGS: Rising will have some wicked storyline with wicked plot twists to make our jaw drops a lot. :D

Even Ops?Damn, now I have to buy that...anyway,waiting for Peace Walker to either have a prize drop or come at my local video game store.Which means, the end of june.

And agreed with everything.Though I believe that each and every one is important[except for ops, since I've yet to own].Waiting for some Kojima quality here.

Because Portable Ops reveal some shocking facts:

  • EVA survived. Her disappearance is mentioned at the end of MGS3.
  • The Philosophers in the America branch is changed to the The Patriots.
  • Ocelot is invited to become a member of The Patriots, under the condition which Big Boss becomes one as well.
  • Sokolov survives Volgin's torture.
  • Someone with the same codename with Null (Gray Fox) is mentioned by Gene, the main villain in Portable Ops.
  • Naked Snake will use Gene's massive funds to build Outer Heaven.

Agreed. The Boss's death must have really affected John a lot. Everything makes sense in MGS4 when you play the three main MGS games, plus Portable Ops. Like:

  1. Why Big Boss leaves The Patriots and form Outer Heaven. Because his ideals differs greatly with Zero's and wants to destroy The Patriots to free mankind from their control.
  2. Why is Zero forming The Patriots. He himself was driven by The Boss's heroic deeds and ideals.
  3. Why are EVA and Ocelot remain loyal to Big Boss. Because they are loyal to The Boss as well, and her ideals too.
  4. Why is Donald Anderson is killed. Because he is one of the Patriots, formerly codenamed as SIGINT.
  5. Why is Dr. Clark is killed. Because she is one of the Patriots, and she heads the Les Enfants Terribles project. Plus, her death is planned by Ocelot and EVA.

Also, I am
actually surprised that Zero is the founder of The Patriots. I have never expected that, not one bit. Same goes to Big Boss, EVA, Para-Medic, and SIGINT.

Holy crap! Now I'm 100% stocked for them...should I buy the Ops +?I heard that Raiden is a secret playable, but does he use any swords there?

I am not sure, since I heard that MGS: Portable Ops Plus has the Story Mode removed. If I were you, I will get the original version first, then the Plus version. There are 4 new characters in Portable Ops Plus:

- Solid Snake (MGS4 Appearance)
- Raiden (MGS2 Appearance)
- Roy Campbell (MGS: PO Appearance)
- Johnny Sasaki (MGS: PO Appearance)

I am not sure whether Raiden uses his sword in that game, but I heard he uses a Mk.23.

Oh yeah, you will also get some surprises in MGS: PO:
Gray Fox in his younger years is codenamed as Null. You will fight him several times, I heard.

The first Metal Gear is fought chronologically in this game, called Metal Gear RAXA.

The CIA Director has the documents of the Philosopher's Legacy, who Ocelot killed to get the Philosopher's Legacy. This is planned by Zero and Ocelot.

An unknown man mentioned in this game by Gene is the one who plans the Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater, who is revealed in MGS: Peace Walker.

Frankly I had more respect for Raidens character when he was just a man in MGS2 and as that man would have been a more appropriate successor to Snake.
What I meant by the hollow thing was that in his reinvention they tried WAAY too hard to make us like him. It's too much and the cyborg ninja thing has been done several times in the series.
I would rather see how he went from being the man he was in 2 to the man he was in 4. The journey he went through but they can't do that because for a majority of that part of his life he was still human and I must be the only person who would have prefered that instead of the ninja thing.

Raiden was NEVER to be Snake's successor. He was designed to be the PLAYER HIMSELF IN THE GAME.It was a way to see other characters develop along with the player[Jack Raiden] himself during the course of the series.Jack Raiden has a voice and character because the adventure hero stereotype would never work on MGS.That is the whole VN stereotype where the player IS the hero.ANother example to understand this is the legend of Zelda series.Link is silent because he IS the player.

Do you dislike the whole cybernetic Ninja that much?I found an excellent change and way to stand out of the usuall "badass with guns and army training".Raiden was indeed a guy that breathed fresh air in the series and games[to a lesser extend] in more ways than one.

As for the whole journey to see how Raiden became the man he was in 2 to the man he is in 4...that's RISING.He just becomes the cyborg Ninja in the way.

We have already been told all we need to know about what Raiden got up to after 2 from the datebase. He went to rescue Sunny and in exchange he went to search for the remains of Big Boss and got captured in area 51. The patriots experimented on him and *insert Gray Fox story here* after that he got Big Boss' remains from area 51 then just drifted around the world until 4. I don't know about you but the most significant parts of that story seem to take place before he is captured.
If this turns out to be a half and half game I admit to being wrong about where the series is going but at the moment it doesn't look that way. It looks like it is cyborg Raiden all the way which is all well and good but what about the rest of it? are they going to leave the rest out because Raiden wasn't cool in that bit? or even worse make up some big story out of nowhere that doesn't really have anything to do with the overall plot.

^I doubt it.During the first hints and screens that came down there were many screens that showed Raiden slowly change not only in appearence[becoming more like MGS4] but also showed him starting as a human.Even if the human part is just for the intro we can get plenty of story from it.

Either wat,it's coming soon.[By that,it will be out next year.I doubt they will push it further.]

Screenshots from the E3 2010 trailer, and a full artwork of Raiden. Damn, they look awesome, especially Raiden's artwork.
