It's somewhere mentioned that if they could have summed up DMC4 better, they had no need to make a sequel for it. It's true, but it's always possible to milk the cow. My point here, is that if it came down to DMC5, they could use the current system to generate a great game *worthy*. What I mean by current system is the "PSN/XBOX" store. Create the initial game, then create DLC to cut off the rest of the plot holes. If it's already "solved" in the gameplay without DLC.

IMO, reboot = unnecessary.
At this stage, DMC1-4 still has plenty of potential, which Capcom apparently is ready to throw away.

while telling us what we know and love just isn't any good any more
Or maybe they're telling us that what we know and love can be better.

Because as much as I respect the right of the IP owner to do what they like, when they are doing something in order to get me and millions of others to part with cash, I expect them to be a least receptive to the views and concerns of those fans.
It's a given that both Capcom and NT are quite receptive to the views and concerns of the fans. They're not completely ignoring the negativity tossed their way. But that doesn't necessarily mean they're going to bend over backwards to please the fans.

You guys have to consider that despite all the fan-hate aimed at them (which could only be demotivating, if anything) they're still clinging onto this new direction for DmC, that it's a possibility that this idea they have is worthy and good enough for them to pursue, come hell or fan-tantrums. If it wasn't, and they weren't confident in it, the bad reaction from fans would have had them take a step back and go, 'we need to change this and this to win the fans back'. Seeing as this is obviously not the case, and they're confident that they WILL win the 'original' fans back once they can actually give them the game to play....well, that says a lot, I think.

DmC may be a great game, and we could all enjoy it. Or it could be a rubbish game, and we could all hate it. But ask yourself this. Would you hate DmC more if it was terrible, and DMC had never given us explanations? Or would you hate it more if it was terrible, but you at least knew what had happened with Nero and felt like DMC had given everything it had?

If the DmC's storyline isn't any good, and they have ended DMC..

Then I'll certainly not going to buy any games from Capcom!

I hope so. And I hope they're not bluffing that what they've got up their sleeves is truly fantastically 'cool'.

They aren't the first to have had fan-tantrums thrown at them, and if I were CAPCOM I'd be confident enough that people will buy the game anyway, because the majority of gamers out there don't seem to be as bothered about what the main character looks or talks or acts like as they are about gameplay and being able to happily hack enough things to bits. So no worries for them, because I'm sure it'll sell based on the reputation of previous games at the very least. So fan tantrums or no, if I were them I'd probably be laughing at the fan reaction right about now, seeing as not all that much has been revealed.

You're looking forward to it. That's fair enough.

I'm not so far.

good bye dante it was nice knowing you.
even though capcom wants you to be more westernized
i think you're 'white' enough for me.
